Hurricane Up and Leave Already!!

Our little teeny baby hurricane Alex has been soaking Austin this week. It drove a little doggie from down the street to escape, and we had to rescue her for one night until we found her owners. She was a beautiful little collie mix and had the most spectacular floofy toe fur I've ever seen.

I can't decide if she will never run away again since a horrific thunderstorm started right after we caught her and put her in the backyard, OR, if now that she knows where the yummy grilled chicken lives (I don't have dog food!) she will be busting out on a regular basis. She ate two large perfectly seasoned pieces of chicken pretty fast!

It's rained since then and I'm kind of over it. I miss the bright sunshiny days of summer.

I do have a sweet little card for you today though. I fell instantly in love with this charming little fairy and her dandelion when I saw her and I had to have her.

I stamped her in crumb cake on the fabby Newsprint DSP (new catalog went live yesterday - EEK huge order). After that, I colored her in with a dark brown Copic - I didn't want to stamp her in brown because I wanted to lighten up the middle of the silhouette with a lighter Copic and make her more dimensional. I carefully outlined the dandelion. Then I punched two circles from a post it note - a 3/4", a 1". First, I sponged lightly around the dandelion with YoYo Yellow. Then I put down the smallest circle and sponged more YYY. Then, leaving the first circle, I put down the 1" circle on top of that and sponged Summer Sun around that one. In real life, you can see that second circle better than in my pic.

I thought it made it look like the dandelion was glowing. Magical :)

Then I punched an oval out of Very Vanilla, and then carefully punched out a little frame with my scalloped oval punch. Then I punched a second vanilla oval and sponged it yellow and put it inside the frame. I punched some circles of Daffodil Delight (yes, I used all my yellows) and put them behind my newsprint, and used some old retired Ribbon Originals and a Prima on the bottom.

Am relatively new to stamping so will be researching the "sponging" technique - thanks for sharing!
