Happy Easter!

It's definitely the Easter I will remember the most vividly, that's for sure. I hope you are safe, and well, and if you don't celebrate Easter, then if you are mid-Passover - chag Pesach kasher vesame’ach! And if you aren't celebrating anything - happy Sunday. I hope you have a peaceful day.

I have a sweet card for you today and a video on how I did the background. I've been Gel Pressing with my peeps in my live class group and they've inspired me to do more printing.

I struggled hard on which of two stamp sets' bunnies to use, so I ended up using both! This one for the bunnies, and the sentiment from this adorable rabbit set. 

I chose this design very deliberately today. I wanted to separate the peaceful togetherness of these bunnies from the sort of chaos in the background, because that's what I feel this Easter, and I'm sure you do too. We still have each other.

When I was little, Easter was my most favorite holiday. Not only did I get a ceremonial dress - some foofy pastel something or other - but there was all the puzzle solving of an egg hunt, there was CANDY, and there were art projects in the form of dyeing eggs.

What more could the childhood version of me ask for??? One of my favorite photos that hangs in my house is of me and my childhood BFF David prior to church on Easter. He was Italian, and so his Easter attire included shorts and a little leather holster for his toy six shooter. I laughed right out loud typing that.

The world was a simpler place then.

ANYWAY - the imagery of Easter is so overwhelmingly positive, it's always been some of my favorite stamping fodder.

Baby bunnies and chicks and lambs - what's not to love?

So I'm bringing you an Easter card today that's unapologetically bright and happy, like I remember the Easters of my youth.

I started with the Sun Spots stencil, which I brushed Wild Dandelion, Bubblegum Pink and Seaglass inks through for the background. Then I stamped the lamb, bunny and chick from this set and cut the out with their matching dies, and BARELY colored them with Copics before gluing them down.

The sentiment Easter is from the same set they are from, and the Wishes is from this set. The Wishes set does come with an awesome matching word die. They are such a happy bunch.

Easter as an Adjective

There are many holidays that I use as adjectives - but Easter is the first one I remember turning into an adjective. I distinctly remember as a child seeing a pastel plaid on something and describing it as "Eastery."

Easter is always associated with color for me. The pastels and whites of our fancy clothes, the jellybeans and colored plastic eggs, the little delicious, speckled robin's egg candies.

It's fitting that the time of year (sorry Minnesota) is also filled with color - my sage bloomed in a big way this week, as did my dogwood tree, and bluebonnets line the highways. Yesterday I saw my first goldfinch at the feeder - they are such beautiful little birds.

So when I saw this gorgeous die at Creativation I knew exactly what my Easter Card was going to be.

I took a Gel Press print I made last week, and added the little bunny artist, adding just a bit of the pink paint in the "sky" I created to his paintbrush and the one in the can, and just a bit of a grey shadow on each of the shapes. The sentiment is from this stamp set.
