Independence Day 2009

Happy Independence Day, Understand Blue visitors!!

I hope today finds you happy, healthy and safe.

I know it finds you free from tyranny. I know it finds you defended on all fronts by men and women of unimaginable courage. I know it finds you expressing your beliefs in the absence of fear of repression. It finds you with your God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

It finds you able to freely travel to see loved ones across state borders.

It finds you in red states, blue states, and everything in between, in peaceful co-existence.

It finds you charmed, and blessed, from sea to shining sea.

And if it finds you here today, I am grateful.

Have you signed up for the UBlue Cyber Club? Attended one of my Webinars?? Come on - get your geek on! :)

  1. This brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful, Lydia. Very well put.

Happy 4th to you, my friend.

  2. Kewl Kard Kydia! And yes, I am so happy today to be an American citizen. I am happy every day to be an American citizen because of all that you stated. I'll never take my freedom for granted- after all, it's a freedom to be able to comment on others blogs and have a good time at it! I know that there are some places in the world where I wouldn't be able to do that or I could but would be heavily censored and possibly prosecuted for saying anything.

Off to bake a flag cake for the Carson as we are celebrating his birthday today- my little freedom boy! Have a blessed weekend!

WV-scrad- that's a good one- sounds like a cross between scared and bad- badly scared?

"I was scrad when I stepped on the firecracker popper that my kids left out on the porch this morning!" True story- I thought it would blow my light bulb toe off but Ray assured me that wouldn't happen.

  3. Thanks for the great reminder and the beautiful card. Butterflies, being beautiful, ephemeral and a symbol for dreams, miracle of flight, and metamorphisis seem the perfect representative image for Freedom in all it's dimensions.

Happy 4th Miss Lydia - Jean

"Remembering all who serve and the price they pay as we head into this 4th of July weekend"

PS: The perfect secret word for Freedom and today - roote

As in rooted in freedom we can fly free.
