Part of the appeal for me is that mid-century modern is CLEAN. The neat, simple lines of furniture, lamps, appliances. The way everything is behind doors of cabinets - it's a very minimalist style, but not stark, like Scandinavian design can be. It has an element of fun and frolic about it.
This month's My Monthly Hero Kit is a Mid-Century dream! The full release has some Christmas in it, but both the kit and the add-ons are all-occasion sets.
Normally, I start with the main kit, but y'all. This ATOMIC CAT. IT IS SO CUTE. The cat is from this add-on set, so I colored her and the chair with Copics, and die cut them both with the matching dies. I took the adorable TV set die, and die cut that with grey cardstock. What's cool about the TV, is the center part cuts out too, so I stamped the Mod Pattern Bold Prints in Soft Granite Shadow ink, and die cut that for the TV screen. Then I layered all that on a panel I stamped in Tide Pool with the Line & Dot pattern bold prints.
So now, a card with the main kit!
I took the adorable car and put Christmas presents in the trunk! I was going to have more presents coming out of the trunk, but then when I saw them on my desk all cut & colored and die cut, I couldn't resist a CAS card, which you'll see below.
The background is one of my Gel Press prints.
Want to see the full kit? It contains the 6x8 stamp set, 19 dies, 2 5x5 sheets of this FABULOUS Neon card stock, and two sheets of Chrome card stock, as well as clay snowflake embellishments and Prisma glitter. Look at the little table and stereo! So adorable!
The add-ons are all in the same, adorable style, like these adorable little dogs. They look like Westies to me. This set comes with matching dies. The background again is a Gel Press print, and I colored the pups with Copics.
Since Mid-Century Modern included the space age, there's a fun space themed Christmas set. Space sets are Hero Arts' jam - this set and this set are still two of my favorites. First, I created the background with Brusho. Then I stamped the moon, santa and deer and cut them out with the matching dies. I colored them with Copics and glued them to the background with little strips with the sentiments on them from the same set.
Finally, I took the leftover presents from the kit for the first card, and made that CAS Christmas card.Stay tuned for a fun new giveaway below!
