Were you the kind of kid that really believed that fairies and witches live in our forests?
I most DEFINITELY was, and my friends and I spent a lot of time in the woods, indulging our imaginations. At the end of the street, there was a little wooded area with a pond, and I imagined all sorts of things inhabited that place. It created just the right amount of mystery for my mystery loving mind. Also, my favorite books were not the dark, Germanic horror stories CALLED fairy tales, but stories with more benevolent characters like actual fairies.
So it should come as no surprise to you that this month's Hero Kit has my name written all over it! It reminds me of the earlier midsummer's night kit which I also loved. This type of imagery is just my favorite.
After I stamped her in Acorn, masked her and created the background, I removed the masks and watercolored her. You can't see here, but I used Pearlescent Shimmer, Iridescent Gold and Duochrome Saguaro watercolor on her wings, hair and dress and she's super sparkly. You can see that below.
So she is from the main kit, which looks like this. Isn't it gorgeous? You get the stamps, the dies, these shimmery papers, Moonshine Confetti and a Sakura Clear Glitter Pen. But get it fast - the kit is while supplies last. Look at the little dandelion dress on the top left fairy.
BUT WAIT - there's a stunning fairy frame die. I LOVE these frame dies - they make beautiful cards so easy. I used a Gel Press Print from this video and just glued the die cut to it and stamped the sentiment from the main kit. What a WOW. Love the dragonfly, bird and butterfly tucked in there.
Then - I saw something in one of the stamp from this stamp set. The set was upside down on my desk, and I looked over and saw a mountain range in the upside down branch image. So I stamped that and the moon in embossing ink, embossed them with clear embossing powder, and watercolored over them with Daniel Smith watercolor. The sentiment is from the main kit.
Now back to dandelions! I created a background like the one above, and this time I stamped the little girl from this sweet new Stamp & Cut in Nocturne on top of it. The sentiment is from the same set.
And last but not least - the SWEETEST add-on. I love all space-themed sets, as you know - and Hero has my favorite ones in all the land. I created a galaxy background with Daniel Smith Watercolor, and stamped the Big and Little Dipper images in Unicorn ink, and then die cut that with the Oval Infinity Dies. I used my white gel pen to add other stars. I stamped the cat and dog in Intense Black and cut them out with the matching dies.I cut a second piece of watercolor paper with the same dies, and then cut that piece again to form the little patch of earth they are sitting on, which I then watercolored with Green Apatite Daniel Smith Watercolor. Then I stamped the sentiment from this set in Unicorn.
And as usual, Hero is giving away this month's kit or a refund if you're a subscriber. Just leave me a comment with your favorites from this release to be entered to win!
And now - the video for my background! Enjoy & thanks for stopping by! Be sure and check out my sweet friend Julee's blog for more inspiration.
Hello, Lydia! Thank you for sharing your many cards and ideas for using this Monthly Hero card kit and add ons! Love the blender brushes and find that I need them and those gorgeous pan pastels.
I love the sparkle on the fairy card! I am also into space, and love your galaxy card as well. Actually, all of the cards are great. (Maybe I should look at my stamps upside too?) :-)
I love the two background stamps so much. Also the kids blowing dandelions, but what is not to love about a fairy in a toadstool! I love all things magical! Thanks Sally
I am quickly becoming a fan of the background stamps. I just love the little dandilion one. I have been using background stamps more and more instead of patterned paper. They really bring out the artist in me.
These are all such great cards! I really love the one of the little girl with the dandelion. I also need both the space and flower background stamps asap lol
What fun cards! I love how you incorporated so many other elements in with this kit. I also really like the background on the first card with the glow around the fairy.
I love the watercolored backgrounds! You’re so amazing with watercolors! Love all your cards, each one is beautiful! This kit is awesome. Can’t wait ti get mine in the mail.
I'm not sure it gets much better than fairy stamps with matching die cuts. I have an 11-year-old daughter who still sees and believes in fairies. Her sweet heart gives mw hope. Also LOVE the Fairy Window Fancy Die. So much impact! Also enjoyed your video with the fairy glow from the life changing blender brushes. You are amazing!
All your cards are really beautiful; very different from one another; and beautifully colored. You have really showcased just how versatile this kit can be -- for many different occasions/situations!! I especially love the sparkle on the fairy sitting and the yellow halo all around her -- so lovely!!! Just love this kit!! It's my all-time favorite of all!!
I love your beautiful collection of cards! Each time I see one, I think, ooooh, I LOVE this one! Then I get to the next one and say, I love this one even more! each one is amazing!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful techniques! I never got the Maxfield Parrish connection but I see it now and you are absolutely correct....we all know fairies glow.
Just starting to play with pan pastels so your tutorial really grabbed my attention. I am going to have to check out those applicator tools. All your cards are very fun. Love how you saw a mountain in the tree branch. thanks as always for sharing.
Fantastic collection of cards. Love the glow around the little fairies. The little girl blowing the dandelion is darling. thanks for sharing txmlhl(at)yahoo(dot)com
Love all your cards (and the video), especially the first two cards but also the simple orangeish one with a sole dandelion and a perfect sentiment. I was so into fairies as a little girl and then it sort of combined with Tom Thumb and Thumbalina tales so they became teensy fairies who lived in walnut halves or seashells, nibbling on bird seed. I made up stories about their daily lives in their mini-world. Simpler times. . .
I don't generally get the kits, but this time I just couldn't pass it up! They had my name all over it!!! Your cards (as always) are amazing! I can't wait to get my kit and play! Thank you for sharing.
I love all of this month's release! But if I have to pick a favorite or would be the fairy die cut window. Thanks for sharing so many card designs too!
Stunning backgrounds - they all take my breath away - I especially love the beautiful colours behind the fairy frame card and the gorgeous night sky behind the children.
Your cards have an other worldly quality to them. I love the glistening fairy as well as the panel with the solitary dandelion on it. Those silhouette cards and their backgrounds are stunning, too!
Your cards/talent is amazing! Thank you so much for the wonderful inspiration. I love anything fairy & can’t wait for my kit to arrive! I’ve never tried pan pastels, but now they are definitely on my list. I love how you made the fairy sparkle. Looks so pretty. I think that my Favorite from this release is the fairy window fancy Die.... although I love all of them. Thank you again!
This is such a 'magical' kit and I love your creations! The colors and designs are wonderful. Thanks for sharing such great inspiration for using this new kit!
Your cards are just absolutely beautiful! But my favorite card has to be the one with little girl blowing a dandelion. It reminds of the time I told my little niece that if she blew on a fluffy dandelion she could make a wish! Thanks for sharing such beautiful cards with us!
Lydia, all of your cards in this post are remarkable! You did an awesome job of creating with the new kit. I really love the closeup of the fairy. Gorgeous!
I am in awe! I just learned about products that I didn't know existed. Pan pastels? They look so creamy. I do wish these awesome soft brushes would of got popular before I really invested in the foam. Every single card is awesome! The dog and cat looking at the stars is one of my favorites lol. TY :)
Every time you leave a comment, a new LOLcat is born. ALSO - don't panic if you don't see your comment right away - I moderate my comments to keep those spammers out, so your comment will show up in short order. Unless you're linking me to Russian brides or Nigerian princes.
Oh Lydia, AGAIN with all the gorgeousness. I especially LOVE the little girl with the dandelion card. You and Hero Arts make magic together!
