I don't really have to admit to that if it's the case. Stop interrogating me!
But I do have the second of three new medium experiments this month for you today, and I had fun with the markers in today's post. My third will be on the 30th, so stay tuned - I love that one too!
All three of my new mediums are water-soluble, because that's what I love the most.
Today's experiment is with the Arteza Real Brush Pens. These are water-soluble markers that come in sets - I used the 24 set for today's card, but there's a 12, a 48 and a 96. I know - contain your surprise that I don't have the 96. Maybe my full set syndrome is dying down in my old age. (Not.)
This particular set has what I wanted for my card today though - and that was some primary brights, as well as a bright green and orange.
That's right - I'm channeling Warhol today - one of my favorite design staples, as you can see here and here.
I took those brightly colored markers, and just outlined the coffee cups, and then used water to fade them out to a glow around each cup, alternating the colors so no like colors were next to each other. Harder than it looks, as you'll see in my video. I'm not a cardmaker who plans designs - I just sit down and make stuff - but in this case, a little planning wouldn't have hurt. :) But it worked out fine in the end. Coffee, anyone?

I added the vellum from an old Hero Arts kit with my favorite, truly invisible vellum adhesive, and added the smile die cut on top.
My friends at Arteza were nice enough to give me a discount code for my readers, so after you watch the video, you can shop here, and then use code OHF-TPE-039 for 10% off your order through April 10th.
So here's the video of my exploration of these markers - and you can always click here to watch in HD on YouTube.
And last but not least - this project is part of the March blog hop with Joy Clair and My Sweet Petunia. Anywhere you see this badge in March, comment on the blog posts to be entered to win shopping sprees from Joy Clair and My Sweet Petunia.
Love the Warhol look. Those markers really make a nice statement. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove! Thanks for all the info and inspiration!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card and background stamp. ♥ it!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your video today. I have a set of 48 markers and have been looking for ideas on how to use them. Thanks for sharing. Now I need to look at those water brushes. You made them look easy to use and gave great information on why you like them.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I have a few cards, with vellum stamped sentiments, awaiting the arrival of your recommended vellum adhesive in the mail today!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job explaining and using this medium. Thank you
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! I love this! I think there is a perfectly logical reason why you can't do math and be creative...two different sides of your brain! Just don't ask us to do math while we are being creative and everything will be fine! Off to order some water brushes!!! XO
ReplyDeleteGreat colorful card! The discount code doesn't seem to be working for me. :(
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! Refresh the page - she gave me a new code since that one wasn't working!
DeleteFor some reason the code didn't work (This code did not match any active gift card or discount. Was it entered correctly?) I tried it several times. Anyway, I enjoyed this video and your card.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! Refresh the page - she gave me a new code since that one wasn't working!
DeleteI love the card video so much and went to Azteza but code does not work. At least not in the past 3 hrs.

DeleteIt’s not at all surprising, given your week, that your card includes many coffee cups. But, honey, can we talk? Because you are seriously making me want to try watercoloring...and I’ve resisted for so long. I can’t afford another medium in my life. So, could you make a few ugly cards... please? Thanks. Appreciate it. Love you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for a relatively easy watercolor card. I feel like this is something I can tackle successfully!
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous & such a quick idea. Love that "coffee with Warhol." And yup need ALL the coffee this week. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun with these colorful cups.
