Hey - 1985 Called
And it wants its stuff back.
Seriously.
But first, on the plane, where I'm terrified, as per usual, a little girl in front of me screams "NO NO NOOOOOOO" as the plane banks for landing. I think - yeah, me too sister. Wait - I know the Bernoulli principle - what are those flaps doing??? If they do that, no air goes under the wing - no air, no Bernoulli, no Bernoulli, no lift - no lift - FALL!!!! MOVE THE FLAPS - WAIT, DON'T - WHAT IS THAT NOISE????
But we made it. And saw all this wonderful water on the way in.
On the ground, I realize I apparently am time traveling. First, at the baggage carousel I see a youngish boy - 18 maybe, cute spiky hair, wearing a T-shirt with a large, stylized... cassette tape on it. I smile, and then realize I'm the only person in the baggage claim area that knows what it IS.
It's like me wearing a shirt with a TRILOBYTE on it. Only the freaky paleontologists would recognize it. OMG. He's wearing my past as a dinosaur on a t-shirt.
He probably thinks I'm coming here to Florida to die. He smiles compassionately.
Next, rental car. Little Jose from New York bonds with me over our east coast homeland, and inexplicably winks at me as he hands me my paperwork.
When I get to my car, I see why. Jose has upgraded me to an extremely sassy convertible luxury car. I love you Jose. *Wink*
However, upon requesting my key, I'm traumatized again.
This is my Blackberry Curve - known to be a large phone, and THIS IS MY CAR KEY. WTH???
Then in my room - and serious princess alert - the Rosen Plaza - not the cleanest hotel!!! - I go to blog and, uh - what is THIS??????????
1985 is really gonna need all its stuff back, in a Dolorean, with big hair and shoulder pads - STAT!!
K - gotta go meet my buddies who just got here. Tomorrow - PEEEEEEEEEEKS!!! Tonight - a pretty moon and a palm tree.

The Non-Sisterhood of the Solitary Traveling Blogger, Wearing Pants
Catchy, eh?Well I thought since I don't get to give you any peeks today I should share some moments from the trip.
1) Outside bag check luggage dood (THANKS FOR THE GRATUITY!! that's what they always yell when you give em a tip so the cheapskates behind you get the hint and start rooting around for money) tells me there are 50 empty seats on my plane. That's what Understand Blue is talking about, my people.
2) Dick Gephardt wrecking house on some BBQ at the airport. His wife looks like a little Dallas lady - all frosted short, older Dallas lady prototypical haircut, little vest, earrings, corduroy black pants. He had on a very pretty black overcoat and a low level of awareness of people taking surreptitious crackberry photos of him. A kid sitting next to me just rocked on over while he was eating and said hi. Who knew that kid was even old enough to know who he was. He told the kid he had a speech somewhere. He was very polite.
3) Plop down, in solitary pants wearing traveling blogger mode, by the window (warm), by a plug (lifeline). Take some pictures of the slowly emerging sun on our plane. Wait.
Hope I get a good aisle seat with no one touching me. I brought a good book.

Gift Card Embossing Tutorial!
Well - today is the day - I leave for Leadership - yay! Good thing too because it's rainy and cold and miserable here. Hope Florida is sunny!!
For Christmas I got a lot of gift cards to my favorite place - Starbucks - and I learned something really cool from my friend Hugo who always takes my order at the drive through. I have a registered card, which gets me crazy discounts - if you haven't registered your card, you need to. I also do auto reload, so when it gets down to a certain balance, it reloads from my Amex. Awesome. Anyway, Hugo told me that you can take gift cards people give you and transfer those balances to your registered card. So really the gift they give you is bigger than they think, because your registered card gets you tons more stuff!!!
Well anyway, I can't bring myself to throw the cards away, so I've been using them for things lately - some will show up on Project Reanimate. But today, a gift card embossing tutorial to make this simple card with the new punch. I <3 this punch!!
Okay - cut yourself a card base. I chose Whisper White, in the vertical orientation. Using Dotto repositionable adhesive (Stampin' Up!), place your gift card where you'd like your embossed or debossed area. I wanted mine debossed (concave), so I position my gift card on what will be the front of my card.
Next, open up your card, grab your Empressor, and start tracing around the outside of the card, going over and over it until you have a good solid outline of the gift card.
When you go back to the front of your card, remove the gift card and use your handy dandy adhesive eraser to remove any remaining Dotto. This stuff is great because it never damages your cards.
Punch hearts from the gorgeous new paper in the Love You Much bundle, attach them with Dimensionals and stamp the greeting from Absolutely Fabulous in Basic Black just under the debossed rectangle.

Now, can we talk about advertising for a second? Specifically, drug advertising? IT'S DISGUSTING!!! I know we've chatted about this before, but seriously it's out of hand. I don't need to hear about what is going to leak or smell or itch or burn if you take Emagravilhappyuption or whatever was leaking or smelling or itching or burning before you took it. Can we please reserve those convos for the doctor's office? PLEASE?
My favorite are the menz drugz. I can't type what they really are or I will get spam. But you know - the couple is in some weird gross outside bathtub (who cleans that thing?) and then their family comes over, but it's fine because he's taking this drug and he can wait till his mother in law is done telling the story about the war of 1812.
HOWEVER, then, the happy voice describing the old guy whose stuff is all working now launches into a description of what is going to happen to him after he takes it. His eyes will pop out. His nose hair will grow six feet. He will have uncontrollable peeing, twitching and strokes - he will drool and smell like a wet dog. His toenails will shape themselves into points. His eyelashes will stink and fall out. And he will have to be rushed to the hospital with a mushroom like rash the second he steps into the weird outdoor bathtub.
Given all that, do you think he's really going to need the drug? No one will get within 10 feet of that ticking time bomb, believe me!!!

The New Catalog is Just Two Sleeps Away!!!
It's true!!
And I'm giggling right now because I'm time traveling (it's Saturday and I'm doing Monday's post because I'll be busy packing and generally being disorganized.)
I sure hope I get to meet some of you this week!
Wait - I forgot about the giggling. I have the news on in the background (I am the president and founder of News Junkies Anonymous. I love the 24 hour news channels.)
Anyway, they're talking about an angry crowd of demonstrators stomping around in New York about some grumble or other. I always think they're talking about Stampin' Up! demonstrators when that catches my ears. Grabbing torches, covering their faces with scarves, and rampaging around with brightly color coordinated posters and signs, twinkling with rhinestones and glitter, and shouting about the retired list, or demanding butterfly punch or a Hello Kitty Big Shot. God, I want one of those so bad. Yes, I know I already have a Big Shot BUT IT'S NOT A HELLO KITTY BIG SHOT. I WANT IT SO BAD. I'M READY TO MARCH AROUND YELLING ABOUT IT!!
Anyway, here's a card for you. I want you to remember to use more black cardstock!! It's so fun to showcase the Bold Brights against stark black. In this case, I stamped the super extra fabby flowers from the sneak peek set - Itty Bitty Buds - from the catalog I will have in just two sleeps - and then colored them with YoYo Yellow, Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore markers.
Do you know that I still have and use my original set of markers I bought in 2001??? These are very very good markers. Totally worth the investment, trust me.

UBLUE Cyber Club Update

Heart Strings
I saw this layout on a blog that I cannot find anywhere - the card was adorable, and there were little stars on the strings. If you've seen this card, please let me know so I can link to the brilliant lady who designed it.I thought I'd change it up with heartstrings. Little blue hearts are a nice cool splash in the warm Tangerine Tango DSP. It's nice to do a little change-up on normal holiday color schemes. Valentines don't have to be pink and red, especially if your heart is blue!
The card is a 4x4 Valentine size, and the DSP is cut to 3.75" x 3.25" and then I hand cut the wave with my craft knife. I stamped the little greeting from Absolutely Fabulous in the gap.
I punched the hole in the top piece with my 1 3/8" punch and used the edge of my dimensionals above and below the hole. This is what I stuck the linen thread to.
I then sandwiched two teeny blue hearts from the new punch around each thread, and added other dimensionals to pop this up off the page.
Very easy and fun card.Congrats to Emily - one of my fabby downline - who got a promotion to Senior Associate! Way to go Emily! She just started in September, so she is off to a wicked great start!!
I have the best little flock in the world!

I'm headed to Leadership for Stampin' Up! in Orlando on Tuesday so make sure you are subscribed to my blog either in your reader or via email (see sidebar) so that you can get my crackberry updates and photos from THE NEW CATALOG and fabulous projects that await us there!! Pray for Maddie who will miss me squeezing her tight while she sleeps during the blogging hours, and Splotchy who kisses me in my sleep every morning from about 3:30 to 4.
I'm sad I have to leave them for a few days because then next weekend is the big surgery for them both. :( I hate that. I don't want to hurt them. Don't worry I won't surprise you with any gross pictures of stitches or anything. This is a pretty blog. :)

So Loved!
These two sure are.
This is a sneak peek from the new catalog sets Love you Much (the birdies) and Goody Goody Gumdrops (the greeting). I'll show you more from Goody Goody Gumdrops soon - it has a HILARIOUS owl in it and a ton of great greetings.
I decided to experiment with the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils and Gamsol - odorless mineral spirits, just to see if you could get the same look as with other pencils.
Since these images were so small, I didn't really want to use water because I was afraid it would go outside the lines.
Gamsol and the little paper pencils you apply it with give you a lot more control over moving the pencil color around. Here you can see one birdie on the right, that I colored with my light and dark blue pencils, and then the birdie on the left has already been blended. That is some seriously simple coloring to get such a cool look, eh? Then you can see my paper pencil thingy blending the right birdie. It's really very easy.
I used the piercing template from the Mat Pack for the detail on the edge of the Brilliant Blue card base, but I used the Classy Brass Punches Plus template to pierce the little arc over the birdies.
The focal piece is Stampin' Up! Watercolor paper, uncut, and so are the little hearts punched with the new heart punch. I love that teeny one so much.
Speaking of teeny ones - I told you about fang fest - where suddenly there were cat teeth everywhere - just FLYING out of the felines!
Well you are not going to believe this - but MADDIE ALREADY GREW A NEW FULL SIZED FANG IN PLACE OF THE ONE SHE LOST!! A HUGE canine tooth just appeared where the hole was.
I'm starting to be afraid of them. I don't think they're cats at all. If you don't hear from me for a few days, I think you'll know I've been dragged back to the mother ship and probed by the cat aliens of the apocalypse. I should have known when I caught them walking upright and smoking, but I just thought they were advanced.
