This is my favorite month of the year - STAMPTEMBER!
If you're new to it - Stamptember is a month-long event put on by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate the love and joy of good old stamps.
I bet you can remember exactly where you were when you found your first ever stamp, and how exciting it was to start that journey. For me - I love how stamping connects two people - the stamper and the designer. When you buy and use a stamp to create your OWN art, you are appreciating and rewarding the person whose art you are creating with. Helping them make a living creating art, while you find joy and peace in your favorite hobby.
Stamptember has lots of fun surprises - a month of releases from Simon and exclusive collaborations with all your favorite stamp companies. And remember - many of these are exclusive to Stamptember and will sell out, so strike while the iron is hot.
I have some of these in my hot little hands, so I'll help kick off the party with some of my favorites that are live today.
First up - BE STILL MY HEART - zentangled Christmas ornaments! I actually made quite a few cards with this stamp set, but chose my favorite for today - a simple black & white, which is where the art of this set lives, in my opinion.
I hand drew the strings with a Pitt Pen, and used the stripe stamp and teeny from this stamp set in Key Lime to pop that part of the sentiment. The larger sentiment is from the ornament set.

Y'all know I adore Simon's Picture Book dies and the "twofer" you always get when diecutting with them. Normally I do them in paper, but something in this adorable new die cried out for felt. (Now that my favorite local fabric shop has closed, I buy sheets of wool felt on Etsy from this shop - only buy wool! The other stuff is raggedy when die cut.) Seriously - cute AND fuzzy? Who can resist this? I know exactly who I'm sending these two, but it's a secret. I love how you can pop the little nostrils up. Easier to see on the blue one. When I was gluing them down to the card base, I pulled their mouths slightly open so you could see the white of the card through them - something fun that stretchy felt offers that paper doesn't. The sentiments are from my favorite hippo set here. Now that I have all my stamps and dies airtabled, all I had to do was type "hippo" into the search and all my hippo sets came up!

I can't wait to see all the collaborations and new exclusives throughout the month. One of my favorite stamp sets I've ever bought was one of last year's collaborations and I'm glad I jumped on it when I did. Stamptember is basically the holiday shopping season for stamp lovers!
Have a great weekend - make something pretty!
Loveyameanitbye.
OH! I am so into black and white with just a hint of color right now! Your ornament card with that fun green strip is a wow for me!! Earlier this week, I created with black, white and just a hint of limon! Such a fun color combo. I love how you created a New Years card from a birthday stamp set! So creative!
ReplyDeleteOh be still my heart. Love those ornaments. Love your card. ❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteLove those cards. Absolutely amazing. I’m new to Simon says stamps. I started getting your card kit this year and I can’t wait to celebrate sramptember!( & it’s my birthday month! What a way to celebrate!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I’ve had my eye on the hippo set, it’s too cute! I can’t believe 2019 is creeping up on us!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love the black/white look of the zentangled card...and more black/white in your New Year’s Card, combined with bright colors. Just fantastic! Simon Says Stamp has done a terrific job with these stamps. I want them all!
ReplyDeleteThese are aesome! I TOTALLY snapped a pic of the ornament set last night when I saw my email! #inspiration only as I cannot spend money this WHOLE MONTH (vaca)..... I will live vicariously through you and your creations! LOVE YOU!
ReplyDeleteStrike while the iron is hot.... so true!! I missed out on a few last year and still regret it. I will be quicker this year ( I've been training, think American Ninja Stamp Warrior). I have never tried felt before, but your hippo is so cute, I am going to get some felt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I was on the fence about buying the Christmas ornament set but now it's definitely on the list!
ReplyDeleteSeptember is far more exciting since i dig in papercrafting !! 😂 And I would have love to be the happy recipient for the adorable couple of hippos !! Thanks for sharing. Love from France, Marjorie

Love, love, love that first card! It made my heart skip a beat when I saw it!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a screenshot of how you set up your airtable database. Instead of reinventing the wheel by trial and error I'd like to know how you set up stamps and dies. By company? By theme? By designer? Are your sentiments set up as a separate linked table or as a part of the stamp sets able? Clear as mud? ;) Anything you'd like to share about it would be appreciated! I'd also understand if you don't want to share it as I'm sure it took you a lot of work to put together!
So excited for Stamptember!!
I love the numbers card! Pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Lydia! I bought that ornament set too. I love it in black on white. I may have to copy your idea. The hippo face is so sweet. I bought the cat face and doing these in felt is a great idea. Thank you!
