Coffee & Thoughts Of You - Blog Hop & Giveaway.

This weekend, I had to sit down and actually do math to make today's card. When I saw the little critters in coffee cups in this adorable bundle, I knew what I wanted to do, but I had to figure out how to get my seven ROY G BIV colors into four images. I started by ditching Indigo, which I usually do anyway. I just go from whatever blue I'm using right into purple. However, that didn't really help me with the math, because that just meant I had six colors to spread across four critters, instead of seven across four. Doesn't that already hurt your brain? Don't worry - there's no homework.

So I picked out my Daniel Smith colors first, and wrote them all down: Carmine, Aussie Red Gold, New Gamboge, Permanent Green Light, Phthalo Blue Green Shade, and Quinacridone Purple. This is my ultimate Daniel Smith rainbow.

Then I just decided that I would make them look sort of like they were reflecting on each other, with red and purple (since they was on the end) and green (since it's my least favorite color) would be the only non-repeating colors. So the red and orange bunny reflects orange on the skunk, the skunk reflects yellow on the mouse, and the mouse reflects blue on the squirrel!

And see? I STILL didn't have to do math! #winning.

These adorable images are from the cutest little set from Pink & Main. After I watercolored them (they're stamped in Versafine Clair), I went back with a white gel pen and added accents to each of the critters and the cups. They still looked a little flat to me, so I used a Noir Arteza Woodless Watercolor pencil to shade them and give them some dimension and it did the trick! (PS - I have a video coming with these on the 30th and I LOVE them. Yesterday I painted in the backyard with these for two hours and it was glorious. Great, portable medium. You can use my coupon code  OHF-TPE-039 for 10% off on those pencils through April 10th here.) Then I cut them with the matching dies - hard to see here that they are die cuts - and glued them on my linen textured card front and stamped the sentiment. Even though the linen is textured, it stamps beautifully. The place I buy it (linked below) cuts it and corner rounds it for me!
