VIDEO: A Moment In Front of the Chagall Window + Giveaway

There's literally nowhere I'd rather be than sitting in that quiet blue light in front of the Chagall window. The last time I was there, time just literally stopped. It's so unbelievably beautiful. There was one thing I just HAD to do with this month's kit, and that was recreate that quiet room bathed in blue light.

The frame die for the kit is a fancy die, so all those little details were perfect for creating a dark, blue room and the window. I cut it out of white cardstock and separated the inner part of the frame. I ink blended the frame with Navy ink, and then lightly brushed on white wax with my finger - using the most on the people. You'll see me create the window with alcohol ink in my video. I chose the portion of the window that has a little sun on it, and then I drew the lines with my MIS-T ruler for the grid, then freehanded the rest with a multiliner. PS - I listed all four of the wax kits in my supplies below - I used various colors throughout this post.

Here's what the full kit looks like - the designer created the splatters by actually splattering paint until she got just what she wanted and then photographed it! We got a peek at the real thing - amazing. The embossing powders are included to make the splatters extra colorful. This will sell out fast, I do believe.

So in today's video (which is sort of a part one video - I'll have a new one with different mediums soon) - I will show you how to make this card! It takes two seconds to do and is so fun. After I did the background, I stamped the splatters in black for contrast. SO MUCH FUN. The sentiment is from the main kit.

I make this one in the video too, with this amazeballs stencil. Now for this one, see the shadows the people are casting on the canvas? I took a second frame die cut, and snipped the top part of the woman and the whole man out. Then I colored them. Then I popped them up with foam - so the top of the woman is popped up, but her legs and feet are glued flat, so it has a very realistic, dimensional feel, since her legs are farther from the viewer than her body. Then I gave them grey shadows. The sentiment is from the main kit.

My inner hippie was fit to be tied at this funky, retro flower set! You'll see me make this in the video. The sentiment set with a bunch of art quotes this month rocks.

THE CAT ADD-ON THOUGH. SERIOUSLY. I took the little frame die and colored it with Just Rust. Then I highlighted it with metallic wax for the frames. It cuts the little canvas out for you so I stamped and colored those separately - the little cats are cut with the matching dies and glued on top of the background. OMG THE VERMEER CAT. hahah. PS - if you have not seen this incredible story about VanGogh, please come back and read it.

And what would a cat-themed art set be without THE SCREAM? OMG this makes me cackle. I stamped and die cut it, and then popped the little canvas part of the die back in after coloring it to match. Isn't this pretty much how the world feels right now? Just like we all need a good scream? I colored and used the wax on the frame. The hilarious sentiment is from this set.

And I couldn't leave without a card for Ukraine. I used a dictionary page - the page with sunflower, and ink blended it before adding my Nike die cut, which I very lightly shaded with a grey marker. You can read about this history of this statue here.

The sentiment is from this set, and I placed it just above the sunflower definition. This die set is absolutely stunning and I'm nowhere near done with it.

  11. Hi Lydia!

I am practically rolling on the floor giggling at your take on "The Scream". That is some funny stuff, right there. HAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahaha!!! You married the image up with the PERFECT sentiment.

I also really enjoyed seeing your other examples of what can be done with the kit and the add-ons. The combination of the pop art flowers, the Warhol quote and the museum scene is super cool! They're all fantastic! Thanks for the great ideas and also for the laughs.
