VIDEO: Ink Blended Spotlighting + Giveaway

As you will see in today's video, in the late 1900s, spotlighting techniques were harddddd and complicated! Imagine trying to line up stamped images in layers without a MISTI! HERESY!

I thought about that when I was creating today's first card and it made me laugh. Amazing how the speed of change makes you forget how hard things used to be. Or maybe they didn't seem hard at the time because you didn't know better.

Either way - it's MUCH easier now, and I'll prove it today.

This first card features these beautiful tulips - and since I've done THREE texture plate posts this month (I'm on a tear), I decided to do the opposite of my previous two posts, so you'll see you get a great result no matter how you use them. This plate is the A2 version of the previous slimline plate.

I used this word die and the sentiment from this set for the sentiment. Super quick, duplicatable card - I think if you wanted to make a bunch of Easter cards in a very short amount of time, this would be a great candidate.

Next - a little sneak peek of some upcoming Gel Press videos! I made the foreground collage style image with this lovely  lily of the valley die set.

Funny backstory on this - my dad HATED lily of the valley perfume. I now wonder if that wasn't a super sixth sense, given what I know about lily of the valley from Breaking Bad! I tried to get him to watch that show, but sadly, he ran out of time before he could.

I adore lily of the valley - the plant - and am not acquainted with the perfume he didn't like, but I will say - I have to give him credit for knowing a little something - even if it was just instinct - about that plant.

The dies are so perfectly delicate and realistic  - they were calling out for collage. So I cut a gel print and some music paper for them, and put them on a contrasting Gel Press background that you'll see in an upcoming video. See that detail in the leaves and stem? That is this stencil. The sentiment is from this set.

I did the same thing for a blue gel printed background that you'll see soon. The sentiment is from this set.

Here's my video for the spotlight technique! I will have more video

  1. I love the Lily of the valley plant and the little ditty about them I learned as a child. Love the cards!
