I'll spare you the details, but when I found out what the stamp set was about, I had to have it, and I had to buy one for my friend Kat, who is like my irreverent twin. It doesn't take much to make us laugh.
So you know what Spanglish is, right? Even if you're not from Tejas? It's basically a jumble of Spanish and English that we all speak - Spanish version and English versions are both Spanglish.
Well it turns out that there's a German/English equivalent, and it's called Denglisch.
So this awesome stamp company in northern Germany made a stamp set out of Denglisch, where it translated some common German sayings literally into English, and the result is hysterically funny.
I couldn't find anywhere in the US that carried their stamps, but I bought them direct from their website here.
It was so worth buying them from across the pond though.
Because it allows me to make a card with an absolute Denglisch truth bomb.
And that is...
life is no sugarlicking.
Isn't that hysterical? And I think everyone can agree that it's factual. Especially this adorable dog. I watercolored him with Ultramarine Turquoise and Aussie Red Gold. Then I used the 3" Rectangle Mask to mask out the dog, and I then laid this fun, well loved and paint covered stencil on top of it and brushed Sweet Mango and Wild Dandelion on top of all that. I secured both stencils with Pixie Spray. I love this stuff. We used it at my class this month and everyone loved it too.It was hard to just make one card out of the set though, so I made one more. I put Peacock Feathers, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Oxides on my craft mat, spritzed them and picked them up with the center panel. I cut little strips out of what was left after I cut that panel with this die set and put them behind the holes in the white panel, which was cut with the same dies. Then I stamped the owl in Nocturne. Then I added the Denglisch sentiment.
Hold your ears stiff, y'all - life is no sugarlicking! Loveyameanitbye.
