My neighbors across the street have the cutest danged dogs.
One is a medium-sized poodleish dog - silver - that is SO incredibly well behaved. If they go out in the front yard with this dog the dog will trot around but never leave the boundaries of their yard. The entire family is deaf, and both of their dogs are completely silent. I think that's why - because their humans never make any sound.
I adore their other dog too - it's a small, blended breed brown dog that is just as obedient but also takes an interest in me when I'm outside. He will look at me, and act like he wants to play but NEVER have either of those dogs taken one step into the street. It's really pretty amazing. They are extremely bonded with their families and so well trained.
Anyway, when I saw
Jen's latest stamp set, I INSTANTLY thought of the little brown dog. The resemblance is striking. So I thought I'd make them a card - they have been bringing my my incorrectly delivered mail for weeks and they are so sweet.
I wanted to tell you too - that
Fadeout Ink isn't just for watercolor. It's amazing with pencils and
Copics too - so I thought I'd
Copic Color this little dude. After I stamped him in
Fadeout, I colored him and then added his black details with a Micron pen, leaving a little white space on his nose. To put the scene together, I first stamped the dog bed in
Fadeout and covered it with
masking paper, then stamped the rug image over that in
Nocturne, then stamped the dog over that in
Fadeout. Then I colored it. The paper is also from Jen - it's
Winter Solstice - really pretty. Then the card base is
Desert Storm.

Well after all that, I needed some coffee.
Watercolored coffee, that is. My favorite coffee joint in Austin does these artistic foam designs on their lattes - I love this place - it's so quiet and serious. I felt like I could only do
that beautiful stamped foam justice with watercolor, so again I stamped the images in
Fadeout and then used
Daniel Smith watercolor to finish, including my #2 brush to create the wood texture with a few colors that were hanging around on my ceramic palette. Actually this entire thing was done with just paint left on my palette - I didn't even get my watercolor tin out. This set does have
matching dies. The beautiful, delicate sentiment is from
this set.

Do your plans for the weekend include either dogs or coffee? Or both? I'd love to hear about it!
Head over to
Reverse Confetti for the rest of
Jen's release today - she is a doll. Even though we live 3.5 hours apart, I seem to only ever see her in another state! We need to fix that.
Loveyameanitbye.
