I love the sort of primitive shape of the stocky horse, but I especially love the painted details. Although, I read here that they were not always decorated.
One of my favorite true crime podcasts is from Sweden, and she ends every episode with fun facts about Sweden, and on one episode she discussed her beloved dala horses - her cover art for her show features one, as a matter of fact.
So I was thrilled to discover the Dala Horse stamp set and matching dies at Neat & Tangled, where I'm a guest designer today! It's SO cute, and while I usually never do anything traditional in terms of color, you cannot improve on Scandinavian design, so I made my little horse traditional. I colored him with just two markers and then added white gel pen accents. I die cut him with the matching dies, and also used the Lucky Stars die to add some glitter paper stars. The sentiment is from this set.
