It's just too much - the altitude, the abundance of great food - you just cannot when dessert comes, no matter how gourmet.
The great thing about Santa Fe is that once you get there, you park your car and walk the whole time, so you don't even feel guilty about the non-dessert food.
But still, we wanted dessert.
We came up with a great plan for restaurants there, which is this:
- People come in and eat dinner.
- Dinner people pay and leave, and go walk for an hour, during which time, other people come have their table and eat dinner.
- Dinner people come back, while other dinner people leave to go walk for an hour and they have dessert. They pay and leave and other dinner people come back after an hour and have their dessert.
That's really the only way anyone is ever going to have dessert. Please make it so.
So when I was in Santa Fe, I took oodles of new goodies with me and made partial cards that I finished at home, which is what I have for you today.
First up - fadeout ink + Arteza pencils with this adorable cat from Sending Sunshine. I cut the watercolor paper with these dies after I colored everything, and embellished with Aurora Lights.
|
Next, I used the Marilyn die to cut a stencil from Bristol cardstock, because I wanted it to hold up to multiple uses with water.
I applied Dotto to the back, and temporarily adhered it to watercolor paper. Then I sprinkled Golden Sands and A Bit Jaded on it and spritzed those with water. I let it dry naturally before pulling up the DIY stencil and this is the result. The sentiment is Concord & 9th You're My Happy die, layered for a drop shadow.
|
Yeah, I know I said I was going to keep the stencil I cut for that, but it was too pretty not to put on a card. The sentiment is the Bitty Thank You and I used Aurora Lights again.
|
Finally, I had stamped this awesome background before I left, and I just die cut and paper pieced the floral element, and finished with the beautiful sentiment from the Concord & 9th Painted Rose bundle to finish it off.

It's so nice to come up with a solution to a problem everyone has - needing to walk off dinner to have dessert. Join me in the movement to make this table swapping a reality. The reward is - DESSERT.
Loveyameanitbye.
Fabulous cards!!! I love that cat!!! Great idea regarding dessert. I love the idea of being able to walk everywhere!!! Maybe I can convince Elisa she wants to go to Santa Fe for her Senior family vacation instead of Seattle!
ReplyDeleteLydia, do you recommend Santa Fe as a vacation destination? Or should I just go ahead and plan the move????😁 Great cards today. When I read about the second card I knew you would use the sprayed stencil on a card but I figured you would just press it on to cardstock while it was wet. Ya coulda, ya know. On the first card, what did you use for yellow background? Love it much-ly! Did you just paint circles with the India ink and paint with yellow paint. That's my bet. You suffer from the same condition that I do--sarcasm-ism--so I know you are my people .
ReplyDeleteHee hee - I do!!! And the background is some retired DSP from Stampin' Up! - I have a metric ton of it.
DeleteI love your solution! and I hate that my husband wants dessert immediately after dinner!
ReplyDeleteI love how you got two cards using the die as a stencil, love those Infusions! I haven't been to Santa Fe since 1975 or so, I know it's changed a lot since I lived in NM. I like that everyone has to walk while there.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteLove these cards so much!!! I don't know how you found time to do any part of these on vacation, but they are splendid!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful beautiful work.....and I just want to squeeze that little cat!
