I am in driver's license renewal HELL. Can someone tell me the point of Real ID if when you go to renew your license you still have to produce birth certificates, passports, social security cards and a DNA sample? The last one is hyperbole, but seriously - what is the point of Real ID?

Also Texas has a brand new system where you have to make an appointment but then still get to wait for 4 hours, so that's fun. 

I have a headache after trying to figure it out today - and there are no appointments for a month and a half. So if you are in Texas, I'd make your appointment three months before your license expires. You're welcome.
