Goodbye Callie

My friend Sue's Callie, sister of Toonces, is gone. She was a beautiful kitty, and her feeder is a wonderful human being who probably really needs a hug.

There's not one animal that has ever come into my life that hasn't left a huge hole when they departed. And as I know Sue to be someone who feels the same way, my heart just breaks for her. There are few things harder. I'm so sorry, Sue. Good thing you have that little smartass Toonces to keep you company.

I'd hug you if you were here.

Okay, quit looking, because I'm sending you this card. Seriously. Go back to Twitter.

Is she gone?

Here's what I'm sending her.

Paper: Always Artichoke (Stampin' Up!) Basic Grey Max & Whiskers Ink: Basic Black

  1. I don't know Sue, but if you are reading this I am sending you a hug right now. Losing a fur-baby is hard, and I hope that your heart heals quickly and all the pain is filled with wonderful memories of your beautiful kitty!

The card is simply gorgeous, and I think that the path into kitty heaven probably looks something like that.

  2. I don't know Sue, either, but I send her a hug, too. Losing a fur-baby is really hard - each time...

But, if you let it happen, another one comes along to fill the void. They never take the place of the one that's gone, but they fill a void and create a new relationship.

    Hugs, Sue...

  3. I don't personally know either of you personally but as a fellow animal lover I am sharing your grief right now. Losing a beloved pet as far as I'm concerned is one of the toughest things we bear in life. It will get easier I can tell you from experience but you will always miss her! The good memories will help you through. Sending you a big ol' cyber hug! And tell that Toonces kitty to hug you too!

  8. Thank you to understandblue, who is a wonderful "virtual" friend. I have come to realize over the past year that virtual friends can be very, very real.

And thank you to the rest of you so much for all the wonderful thoughts and kind words.

You can see from my twitter id that I know my place in the world -- I am the human servant to my wonderful cats. Callie is gone, but we have wonderful memories, and we are lucky to have Toonces and Punkie to remind us why it is so worth having pets.

  9. We are so sad that such a grate kitteh has left us too. While we are more farmiliar with Toonces, Punkie and the HyoomanOfToonces we know that a grate kitteh with "take ovur the werld" potential has left us.

Yer wondurful tribute to Callie has sekured yoo a place in owr hierarchy when we take ovur the werld.

  10. I'm so sorry to hear of Sue's loss. I am a lover of fur babies too. In fact, I have a wonderful cat named Callie too. She was a stray that showed up on our doorstep and quickly purred her way into our home and our hearts. I am sending hugs to Sue and I pray she will have peace and comfort to her heart. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet too. Bottom line is that it just sucks. Wish I could make it better. :(

  11. Praying for everyone for this loss. I do not know what I'd do without my 3 furbabies. My heart is breaking for you. She was a darling and beautiful cat.

  12. I just found this thanks to a post you did on SCS. What a beautiful cat she was. I'm a huge animal lover so I know only too well what the loss of a 4 legged family member feels like. Wish I didn't because it's so painful. On the up side, they really ARE waiting for us and I truly believe we will all be reunited with them one day.
