My favorite dies, hands down, and the one I use most often, are my circle infinity dies.
And I lost them.
Or I thought I did. I searched the house top to bottom. I have a working bin on my desk, that I keep all my new stamps in that I haven't used yet or that I have deadlines with. These dies are ALWAYS in this bin, because I use them on nearly every card. But when I needed them this week, they weren't in there.
I got a flashlight and crawled around on the floor looking for them, thinking there were catnanigans in which they fell behind my desk. Nope.
I looked in my filing system, thinking I'd had a fugue state in which I filed them. Nope.
I looked in my TO BE filed system, thinking I'd grabbed them with other products. Nope.
Finally, I broke down and asked for help - and IN THE INSTANT I DID, I FOUND THEM. Why does that happen? Every time! And guess where they were? In the bin on my desk where I keep them, that I flipped through 3,000 times. GRR.
Anyway, yesterday I was looking at the daily challenges, and I saw the Technique Lovers Challenge, which was what caused me to break down and ask for help - because all you need is circle dies!
I did an absolutely horrible job explaining this technique on my live yesterday, so I will not subject you to a video of that - the actual challenge post is way better so you can find that here. I was so excited to try it I didn't follow the instructions well, so you will do better after reading the post. But it is so fun and simple to do. Here are two versions of it. There are lots more ideas with it in the challenge post. I used the pre-cut sentiment strips (they aren't sold anymore) and this sentiment set. So graphic and fun.

Don't lose your dies. And if you do - look for them where they should be!

Oh, Lydia. How many times I've been in the same situation, driving myself crazy trying to find that lost item. And the more I search the crazier I become, which does NOT help. I often take a deep breath, say a quick prayer and leave the room for at least 10 minutes. Upon reentering the room of horrors, I walk in and put my hands right on what I was missing. Why my Higher Power bothers with these trivial request, I don't know, but I'm thankful.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the card on the right; it makes me think of a colorful, modernist bird.
Did you look at the back of your Misti or
ReplyDeletewhatever magnetic stamping guide you use.
The dies are metal and they love to
cling to something - Misti got too close
and they found a new home.
thanks for sharing a story that is too
familiar. txmlhl(at)yahoo(dot)com
The last time I lost a stamp set it was right on the floor beside my chair, in plain sight. But - I had looked in every basket and bin in my craft rooms, under furniture, etc, etc...I swear someone or something planted in there when I walked out of the room...and I don't have cats! Love your cards!
ReplyDeleteI lose stuff all of the time! And I often blame my kitty who loves to play in my craft room. I’m loving these graphic beauties you’ve created! I need to try this technique out!!
ReplyDeleteOh my this is so frustrating! I recently Lost a little heart stamp, almost the size of a comma. I felt It flip off my stamp block. Ack everybody stand still!!! On my hands and knees I go!!! Feeling around. You would have thought it was a lost contact! But alas I found it and all was right with the world again!
