I saw a little moth when I opened the door yesterday - for some reason moths love our door - and I swear when I opened the door, he zoomed over to the siding and was perfectly still - like "I was never here." It seemed like he was deliberately hiding and it was hilarious.
Despite the winter storm, bug life seems more than fine. I've already had chiggers on my ankles, the mosquitos are having a banner spring, and the fire ants, of course, act like nothing was ever wrong. The lizard population and birds are fine too. Out of the corner of my eye the other day while I was walking, I saw a HUGE lizard - like five times the size of our spiny type lizards like the one that guards my front sidewalk.
Then, when I got home, I saw a post on our security network that a neighbor had found someone's bearded dragon! I'm pretty sure that's who I saw, little escape artist.
Then just now - like literally five minutes ago, an owl tried to eat Clarence right in front of me! Video is on Facebook.
I've been doing a little garden journaling and trying to keep my cards springy for as long as possible - and stay tuned for a fun butterfly themed online class - so today, it's all about the butterflies!
I cut this butterfly die from watercolor paper - it's sized and shaped to go with this beautiful word die. I cut the word die twice to create a drop shadow, and watercolored the butterflies before putting them on the background I stamped with the dots turnabout in wheat ink on wheat cardstock. The gems are Reflections.
I noticed something cool on the packaging for the butterfly bundle. On the artwork on the back of the packaging, they offset the layering stamp just a bit, I believe to show that the stamps layer. But I loved the white detail in the artwork, and so I slightly offset my Electropop pink layer to get that same look! Thanks for the free idea! :)
For the white on white card base, I used the layering portion of the hello die to cut an opening in the top layer - so that layer is recessed. Then I put the top layer of the die cut into that opening. I love reversing layering dies.
I used an alcohol ink from my UFO bin for the last two. It's HARD to die cut pretty backgrounds - it always makes me a little anxious, and I'm sure as HECK going to use both pieces when I get up the nerve to do it, so I created two cards with the same hello die, piecing the cut pieces of the print back into the left card. WHEW. I survived that.

Happy Mother's Day from me, Clarence and an owl that I have a beef with!

Once again, thanks for the snapshot of the life in nature and the lovely springy cars. Oh, spring is a rebirth for us all.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did with the Hello die! And the offset layered butterfly is a great idea too!
