Happy Tuesday my friends!
I spent the weekend getting some critical organizational things done and going through our quarantined mail, and winding embroidery floss for some more stitching projects. I have started putting my phone on DND on the weekends to try to be more productive when I'm not working, and it's really helped. Amazing how many distractions your phone creates - they all add up.
Unfortunately, a Stitcher outage that is still happening coincided with my unplugged work weekend. I had to switch players temporarily and not all my favorite podcasts are on the other player. So I had to get most of my work done in murder-free silence. Zero stars. Do not recommend.
But I did get lots done and gave a lot of things away on my Buy Nothing Project Group for people who are starting up home classrooms - I realized I have so many things that will be great for new at-home teachers - fun pencils/pens/paper/pencil sharpeners/magnets etc. It was fun to give it away. People will be spending probably more than ever, not less, because they have to provide all the MANY things teachers had available, so it's a challenge. Look around and see if you have some things that might be fun for the newly homeschooled!
Anyway, one of the things I worked on was videos, and I have one for you today using this gorgeous new layering shading stencil set that matches this stamp and die combo. So gorgeous and easy to use. If you aren't super into detailed coloring methods, you will love this.
So here's the card. The ink colors I used are: Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Firebrick, Sun Kissed and Orange Cream.
You will see the video below.
Next up, I decided to do two very different styles with the ADORABLE new camping set. First up, two cards with no-line watercolor. I love how camping is experiencing a renaissance now - not because I camp - but because I love the outdoors, and I hope that lots more people are experiencing the peace only nature can bring than were doing so prior to this crazy year.
When I saw the sleeping bag and pack in the camping set, my mind went straight to the military. So I again did no-line watercolor in olives and added a sentiment from Land of the Free.
I used the camping set again with a firelight effect with Altenew alcohol markers. I may have a video coming with this card - my phone ate part of so I'll have to see what is left. I watercolored the panel behind the critters from this cute baby set that I cut with the matching dies, and I splattered it with Bleedproof White for stars. Then I put the die cut and colored critters on top of that. I love using baby sets in non-baby ways, and these were perfect for the camping theme.
So want to see the video for the first card? You can see it below or on YouTube here.
You know what else they have this month? WAX SEAL PRODUCTS!! These were my gateway drug into stamping and I was so excited to see these. Click the photo to see the full line or click here.

I love your video and the layering stamp/stencil set. I don’t really like coloring, so I love this set!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards! I'm going to have to try the no-line stamp and watercolor technique!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful! I love the critters around the campfire; but I find it odd the camping made you think of the military! LOL You know those videos of 4 year olds doing home made obstacle courses? Those always get me -- I send them to my nephew who's in a special forces unit and warn him about the next generation and he always hilariously replies those little kids are tougher than he is! I think those videos are supposed to be imitating some TV show I don't know about but whatever, I think they're hilarious. But I digress -- I love your watercoloring! :)
ReplyDeleteJust love the cards, I think my favorite right now is the Beauty Within Stamp and Die Set. Would love to win, so I can get it without feeling too guilty since my husband says you have enough craft supplies.

I have just recently discovered the fun of stenciling, Altenew is the only company I have seen that has this type of stencil you can place over the stamped image! Great idea , looking forward to trying this technique.
