I spent yesterday morning while my computer updated at my favorite nursery. I was very good and didn't spend much but I needed some new plants to help my heart recover from our terrible ice storm and the loss of most of our trees.
It was just what the doctor ordered! I got there like two minutes before they opened the gate, and zipped in and out in 20 minutes. This place is great because the whole thing is outside including paying for your plants, so no need for plague gear - you're basically alone outside. I love it. I got some beautiful plants - some new to me. But I also bought more of the plants that have survived the insane winters we have had since 2021: Blue plumbago, spiderwort, burgundy shamrock, shrimp plants. I'm so excited because both my ginger and my selloum have sprung back to life this week. The white irises my sister gave me bloomed this month too. I looked back at some of my memories on Facebook and found that some of my plants didn't come back until April 30th after Uri. So I'm not pulling out any brown sticks just yet. Oh - my pineapple sage also came back and seems to be thriving.
Anyway that's what inspired today's post, which is all about GREEN. I used these stunning veggie dies for an all green celebration of spring for today's video, which features both granulating and non-granulating green pigments from the Daniel Smith line, which you'll see in the video. The dies are beautifully detailed, and the watercolor highlights those details so well. Plus as a person who is happiest eating mostly veggies, they just make me happy. I finished the card with this sweet black and white paper, a splashy sentiment and these rhinestones. I cut the paper into two pieces to give them a plain white background stripe. I'm not even a little bit sorry if this makes you want a salad. Not one bit. But I might be back with a new vegan ranch recipe Monday so stay tuned.
BUT, more importantly - this card and video is for this weekend's Virtual Stamp Night called "What's on the Menu?" Splitcoast has been doing free online events for 20 years next year - long before social media and long before it was cool, so I hope you join us! I'm hosting a challenge today, and this post is a clue!

Good Sunday morning Lydia. I too eat a lot of greens and love this watercoloring video. Thank you!
