Happy Tuesday! I was so busy this weekend making cards and prepping for Dare to Get Dirty - it was fun to hop on my live yesterday and do something unscripted! If you are a subscriber on YouTube or in my Facebook groups, you should get notified when I go live, which is MWF at 3 central.
We always end up talking about food during those lives, and this week we discussed the amazing five star Salisbury Steak recipe from 2020, but today I made my friend Kim's bourbon pecan banana bread because I accidentally got NINE bananas from Instacart. I also had an error where they brought me SIX bottles of bourbon instead of one - there was a glitch that week that when you hit the + sign to choose one, it was iterating. That was a surprising and expensive day. I bet my shopper loved the tip on that order. Me - not so much haha. But it's the gift that keeps on giving, so I made three loaves today for my neighbors. We are all so hot and if only one of us has to use an oven, then we are all better off for it.
Maybe because it IS so hot, I've been making lots of cool and crispy clean cards lately. Today I have a collage style clean and simple card with this fun, graphic, layering floral - with stunning graphic elements for the background. The background stamps are the kind of image I LOVE in my art journal. Just enough abstraction, but also firm structure. I think I'm finally figuring out the shape a lot of my pages take after two years of isolation and practice!
The process here was simple. For the layering flower, I used yellow, orange and pink electro pop inks. I then cut the flower out with the matching die.
I stamped the background hash image and the stem in black and then used dimensional foam tape to pop up the vibrant flower. There's a modern art vibe to this set that just makes me happy.
So I wanted to drop one recipe - well actually two recipes - so that we can talk about these on my live as well.
Here are the supplies I used today.

It's HOT here, y'all. I mean - I love hot, rainless summers, but we are not used to this kind of heat at this time of year. My poor squirrels :(. My poor plants :(. It's ROUGH.
We try to just keep lights off and not use the oven too much right now - God knows our grid can't handle anything at all - so I found a PHENOMENAL cold salad I have to share.
Now you will see in my notes that the recipe as written had a dressing I really found to be gross, so I found another one that is AMAZING - AND - you mix up the dry ingredients and keep them so you can make it fresh whenever. It is so, so good - and a friend of mine just told me she made it and agrees with me completely.
The cauliflower needs to be cut up small, but I'm telling you - this is to die for.
Here's a photo of mine.
Oh my gosh - so yummy. See the original recipes and my modifications here. PS that site is really great - especially now when everything is so expensive. I paid $8 for my normal container of rice today :(. It's rough out there!
Loveyameanitbye.
