Happy Monday! I have some bright and happy cards for you today with a spring garden feel. I repotted some plants this weekend, and I think in one I figured out how an entire bag of soil disappeared in a year. ANTS. I was shocked that it took a full bag of soil to get the plants back up to the top! Crazy.
The theme for this month's Hero Arts kit covers springy themes, with moms & dads' days products as well.
My video below will show you how I made this card with the main kit and a sticky mat trick - so I won't spend too much time on it, but ALL the color except the bees comes from the amazing shading stencil that matches the cling stamp in the kit. The die and sentiment are also from the kit. I used the colors in this cube stack for the ink blending. I colored the bees with a yellow Graphit marker (coupon in footer) and added sparkle lacquer to their wings. I used some glitter paper to finish it off and match the wings.
Here's my video for the kit card - come back for a giveaway!

Here's what the full kit looks like - the dies match the background cling:
So carrying on with my yellow mood, I stamped the other cling stamp - an add-on - in Soft Granite Ink. Then I used the same yellow Graphit marker I used on the bees to color in an offset printing style - one of my fave coloring styles. Then used the layering Happy Father's Day die to cut that panel. I cut it again with grey cardstock, and I pieced the outline and the words back into the opening. Simple & quick! No need for brown dad cards!
I went a little more colorful with the new Mother's Day Die! The background is a brayer cleaning sheet from an upcoming Gel Press video! It's with Golden Open paints, which make for such vibrant prints. The die makes it easy to use fun backgrounds from my stash - my fave way to use dies like this is with my vast inventory of prints!
The cool thing about shading stencils like the one that matches the kit cling, is you can use them with or without the cling. Without the cling, they have a softer, no-line look. I used the kit ink colors to shade, and then I did sort of a faux eclipse with the hello die. Instead of cutting the background and then stacking, I just cut it from white before stacking - it makes it pop a little bit more. I used dark grey cardstock under two layers of white to get that little outline you see, and added a few sequins.
There are some fun, mod, crisp designs in the add-ons too. I used this stamp set and dies, and modified one of the mandalas with a Copic Multiliner to give it a totally different feel. There are a million ways to color this, whether you use black & white or color. The sentiment is from this set.
I MAY have saved the best for last. This adorable set with animals and their babies is so sweet. I created a Northern lights background with masking tape and pink neon, yellow neon and Summer Sky ink cubes, and then stamped and die cut my bear, and drew him a shadow with my markers. I perched the sentiments from this set onto the edge of my masked background.
I didn't use all the add-ons, so you can see those here:
Here are all the supplies I used today.

Beautiful cards! I love that you didn't use the same colours as everyone else and went for bright, sunny yellow instead. My favourite is your last card with the northern lights. That background and the "matching" shadows are really eye catching. This may sound like a stupid question, but I'm from South Africa and the closest I've come to seeing then northern lights is to put seeing them on my bucket list. Are the shadows really colourful, or is it the product of creative license?
ReplyDeleteBright and cheery card, love Texas roses.
