VIDEO: Untraditional Sky Colors + Giveaway

I am truly amazed by this month's kit and release. I finally had to tell myself to stop making stuff and go to bed so that I could finish today's post before work! It's SO up my alley. The theme is optimism and hope, and the imagery - holy cow. There this amazing, geometric word die in the kit that says HOPE that you'll see a few times in this post - starting with my first card - that I believe will sell out the kit in no time, so if you're not a subscriber, you'd better go check it out before it's gone here!

I combined that die in the kit with an add on die  - this amazing phoenix - for my favorite card of today. I cut the bird out of a card front of cold press watercolor paper (keeping both pieces) and used liquid watercolor in Strawberry, Dandelion and Orange to paint the bird. then I pieced the bird back into the negative space on the card front and secured it with tape, before cutting the whole panel again with the Hope die. I covered the back with label paper to keep all the pieces in place before gluing that to a card base. I just love these two together.

The kit features a Heroscape style three piece layering sky and builder sun image - you can see the whole kit here - and I have a video with it below with some cool color combos. This is an all-year kit and dies for sure - the pretty cloud frame die you'll see a card with below. Love the sentiments and the soothing inks in the kit.

You've seen my sneak peek card, but it really shows the intent of the kit so here it is again, with Indigo, Aegean and Summer Sky inks.

This one is probably my fave color combo from the video. I cut the frame in black to give a hopeful feel from the perspective of a darker time. I added some white to the cloud frame with a Polychromos pencil.

This peaceful, muted combo would be good for sympathy cards, and contains an oopsie you'll see in the video.

All the color in the world can't top a crisp black and white though! I made two black and white cards - this first one with the cloud die from the kit and Unicorn ink.

Then I took the sun image and mirrored it for a symmetrical, reflected design. For the reflection, I stamped the image first in Unicorn, and then on top of that with Neon Yellow ink for warmth.

And back to my favorite - the phoenix! I cut a silhouette out of a card front and then put that on top of a hand painted watercolor vortex from my UFO pile. The UFO pile giveth! The sentiment is from the kit.

Finally, I made a card with You Shine and the Sun Pattern Bold Prints that reminds me SO much of the solar/lunar calendar I was working on with my dad when he passed away - so I saved this for last. I worked in a health food store as a teen, and we sold Tarot cards - I LOVED looking at the artwork on those cards - google Tarot Sun Card to see what I mean - so much beautiful art out there in that niche. This style of art reminds me of those so much and I just love it for all those reasons. Hope you do too.

LOOK at those dies!
