Back To Stamping In A Crazy Month

I have had the craziest travel schedule. I feel like I should have signed up to work for Southwest, because I think I've spent more time on their planes lately than any of their employees have. Thankfully, that will end for a few months after Junkie Fest - I am ready to be home and back in a routine.

This weekend I did have a break, and I actually got to stamp! So I went completely insane on the new Hero Arts Kit, which is jungle-themed and so fun. I got to watercolor a bit when I was in California, but not after that, so I got to play a bit with my beloved Daniel Smith quinacridones on this first card - I used Quinacridone Coral and Quinacridone Sienna on this gorgeous Leaves & Vines background die cut with Fabriano cold press paper. I just sprayed it with water and then dropped color in with a #6 brush. Since the shapes are pretty large, it was easy to use these adhesive transfer sheets to cover the back of it and stick it down with no mess.

Because I was using a black background to show off the die cut, I didn't want my heffalump from the main kit to be all grey, so I left her white, and just added shadows with C3. I colored her little elephant hat and cut her out with the matching dies. The sentiment is from the main kit. This was a very easy and quick card. This month's kit comes with a Daniel Smith Dot card in jungly colors!
The animals this month from the add-ons are so cute! My favorite is the little chameleon stamp & cut. I stamped him on watercolor paper, and watercolored him like some images I googled. There are a bunch of really cool, colorful chameleons in the world! This little guy is painted very realistically - I would love to see one in real life. I watercolored his little stick, too and then cut them both with the dies from the bundle. Then I cut the jungle frame with this die (also an add-on) for a dramatic backdrop and added the sentiment. Look at his little smile :).
There are a few nice big cats in the kit and the add-ons this month - this Tiger Wisdom set was fun to no-line watercolor. I stamped him in Fadeout Ink on cold press paper, and then used a Micron pen to fill in his eyes and stripes - that made it much easier to paint the image without losing the details. I stamped the water ripple in Fadeout Ink too, and then painted the water and the grass around him with Daniel Smith watercolor as well. The sentiment cracks me up and is from the same set. This set does come with matching dies.
In the main kit, there's a beautiful cheetah. I colored her and the branch with Copics, and then die cut them to build my scene. The kit comes with a super fun 6x6 stencil, which I stuck to my card base with Pixie Spray and then very lightly brushed Soft Granite ink on with a Life Changing Blender brush, fading out to nothing at the edges.
Now y'all know me, so you know that a stamp has to be a pretty darn cute monkey for me to stamp a monkey! The little silhouette monkeys in the new color layering palm tree set are adorable! I stamped the tree in black, and then used the new white Staz-On pigment ink to stamp the detail on the leaves. I cut the jungle frame out of watercolor paper and painted it to add on top of the card base with the images on it.
Now I could have just colored these little adorable toucans like I should have, but they are so bold, and open, that I couldn't resist a little zentangle. I used a Micron pen to add some patterns to the birds, and then cut them with the matching dies and stood them on little Oval Infinity die cuts. I stamped the leafy background stamp in green on green cardstock, and then arranged my birds on top. I love how they look chatty. The sentiment is from the same set.
I don't know how they keep coming up with such fun themes, but they do! I didn't intend to make six cards, but it was nice just to be able to keep creating. My laundry isn't done, but I have six cards!

Here's what the kit includes this month, and all the add-ons are available in a discounted bundle, if you need retail therapy!

As usual, they are giving away a kit, so be sure and leave me a comment to be entered to win! I think this kit will sell out fairly quickly, with what I know about my crafty animal loving friends.

All the supplies I used are below. I hope you had a crafty weekend too! Now it's back to work.

Loveyameanitbye.

Love the jungle theme. Was lucky enough
to go on safari in 2012 so I'm always on
the look-out for stamps with those animals.

  31. Wow! Always looking forward seeing your take on the HA kits! Amaazing creations, love the zentangled birds and the supercute chameleon! The tip of using Micron pen to fill in eyes and details to not losing the details when no-line coloring, SO valuable to me ♥ thank you, I'd given up on that technique. Always added details AFTER painting, and getting the wrong details blurry lines - now add those details in BEFORE painting... ofcourse! makes perfect sense :)
