VIDEO: Shadow Hacks Two Ways!

I have SUCH easy hacks for you for shadows and reflections. I always make ghastly shapes if I try to do them by hand so I thought I would share my go-to hacks today! These are so, so easy.

These are the two looks you get. I used this beautiful background stamp with this sweet deer set. The ink is the water reactive Splash ink and then I used markers for the rest. What a sweet little scene these make together - these two stamps go together like peas and carrots! (Which, by the way - don't go together at all, and whoever came up with that saying was deranged. Maybe it was a baby.)

Last night I made one of my new faves - egg roll in a bowl! I saw the original recipe in a Whole 30 group I'm in, and I don't really like pork and made a few other tweaks, and it's delicious! I haven't tried it with her spicy mayo, but her original recipe is linked in my modified one so check it out! Here's my version. You can serve it with those wonton strips from the produce section if you miss that crunch of an actual egg roll but want fewer calories - that's what I did.

VIDEO: Petite Collage & a Glass Cleaning Hack

I was watching crafty videos on YouTube and this video came up about a glass cleaning hack for glass shower doors. I live in a place with REALLY hard water so everything gets coated with a film. I was skeptical, but I bought some of these dishwasher tablets they recommended, removed the little ball, and scrubbed our shower with the blue side. IT IS A MIRACLE. Now if you have serious hard water or serious soap scum it might take two scrubbings, but seriously your glass will sparkle. I bet it would work great on mirrors too or heck even car windows! I had literally tried everything and this is the way the truth and the glass shower life! Just remember to take the little ball out so you're scrubbing with the flat blue part. (How gimmicky is that, anyway? Reminds me of Gushers LOL).

Limited Palette Turnabout Stamping

I remember my favorite children's book author's choice of colors very, very well. I have both old and new editions of my favorite books of his - Swimmy and Little Blue and Little Yellow. As a child who hadn't painted for a few years, I didn't know why I loved his paintings - I just knew I loved them. 

As an adult who has painted for a few years, I can put it into words my art brain understands. He used a limited palette.

So when I got the beautiful, right up my alley new botanical turnabout, I challenged myself to use a derivative, limited palette instead of the four color combos I always use with these stamps. I mapped it out a few times with markers first, and finally settled on green and grey - two different shades of each. I freaking love the way it turned out! What a gorgeous stamp set! The sentiments and dies are from the bundle too. I used the neutrals glitter paper for the die cut.

Speaking of dies, they have these amazing, interactive glasses dies I'm going to be using on everything. The dies have the earpieces for the sunglasses that fold over each other like real glasses!! I left them off for this card, but I have a super fun idea for a project using them that I'll share soon. 

I made three pairs of glasses - as someone who has worn glasses since middle school - these make me happy! The first pair is this holograph paper + this rainbow paper. For the second one, I put a piece of packing tape onto Poppy cardstock and then die cut it for shiny, Sally Jesse Rafael style sunglasses. I used packing tape + black cardstock for the last pair and made the lenses out of holograph paper. The sentiment is from the bundle.

They have so much other fun stuff today, including a new purse die with Becky Roberts.

What are you up to this week? I made BBQ sauce this week and then did my foolproof chuck roast recipe and we had like faux chopped beef sandwiches which were excellent. The BBQ sauce is one I reverse engineered after buying a quart of the sauce from my fave BBQ joint ever in my hometown while they were going out of business. The owner wanted to retire but wouldn't sell and give up his secrets. That's how we are about our BBQ around these parts - zealots.
