Look closely - I used the palest pink and aqua in the petals for overall color, and then I used the two darker tones to add shading. On this rose image, it's easy to get it right because the image is illustrated with the shading already.
I stamped it first in Fadeout Ink so that the lines would vanish. Then I cut the card front (that took courage) with the Mega Greetings Die, cut a few extras and glued it all down for an eclipse look.

Look at the gorgeous colors in this new set! Such pretty jewel tones. I love the warm browns too. Perfect for botanicals.

Very different and interesting
ReplyDeleteWhat a Neat card you've made! I really like the stippling you've done and it's nice to see what the fine bullet nib can do. For those of us that may not have any of these markers yet, I really love seeing how versatile they are and what can be created using them. You've showcased it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting design, I like it!
ReplyDeleteClever card idea! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite alcohol technique, Lydia, because I am still learning how to use alcohol markers. This stippling technique looks very simple, so maybe I can branch out and try using that technique for one of my cards!
ReplyDeleteLove the almost pointillism look you got by stippling! Great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful! I can always find something new and unique when I visit your blog! This is so fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeleteTake Care!

ReplyDeleteI had to take a second look at your card. Very different and I really like it. Always think outside the box! I saw some of your work, maybe on Pinterest, and was drawn to your cards. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBlending.. love this new marker collection
ReplyDeleteGreat stippling on your card! My favorite alcohol marker technique is to flick.
ReplyDeleteI don't own any alcohol markers yet, but I would start with this set because of the colors. I think what draws me to them is the beautiful shading you can achieve and that's the technique I would use.
ReplyDeleteThis looks cool. :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving this new marker set...it has great colors...thank you so much for sharing your work. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to apply the colour! I love the large tone on tone of the sentiment, and then to have that fun dotted flower on top! Bold and different!
ReplyDeleteVery unique card and beautifully done! I love the colors in the new release!
ReplyDeleteI am still practicing with alcohol markers so don't have a preferred technique yet. I love seeing all the videos about using these markers & am practicing a lot. I hope to get skilled enough to have a favorite technique!! Love how you colored this awesome rose & will be trying that soon. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so cool! Dare I say that I get the point? Love it! TFS!
ReplyDeleteReally cool card!! Love your technique. Never heard of fadeout ink before. My favorite think about alcohol markers is how you can shade with them so easily. You don't have to be an artist to make your cards beautiful. Which is lucky for me as I'm so not an artist! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteUnique different design . Love it.
ReplyDeleteI am still learning with alcohol markers and so I would have to say just trying to get the shading right and when I do woooohoooo lol. Beautiful card
ReplyDeleteI've never, ever thought to stipple my images. After seeing yours, I definitely want to try it.
ReplyDeleteColoring with alcohol ink pens is gorgeous. (And something that I have not mastered or tried much) What I do like to do is shading of flowers-both outside and inside the lines.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely!!
Your card is beautiful and unique. I love the colors and your coloring is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow! Lovely and very different.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I never think to use the nib end! Excellent technique.
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo unique! I love this idea!
ReplyDeleteThis stippled look is so cool! I'm still learning with alcohol markers; right now my favourite technique with them is blending. (will I ever get it right?!)
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool; I love it!! Weeellllll, I am not much of a color so my favorite alcohol technique is simple coloring. lol
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous colors! Lovely card Lydia! I have been playing again with AMs but I guess right know marker straight to paper is my go to technique, gotta get more adventurous with AMs ;)Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO MUCH FUN!!!! i never would have thought of doing it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and super cool card! Love the stippling!
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly new to alcohol markers so don't know many techniques. But what I love about them is how you can make 1 color melt into the next one.
ReplyDeleteCrazy card! Stippling is hard to do - you make it look easy. Love the marker colors!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card! Love the unique look.
ReplyDeleteI'm a very basic colorer - so if I can get a decent blended look I'm happy! BTW - this is amazing!
ReplyDeleteVery unique card! Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...
Love your pointillist coloring. I like to color the using the light-med-dark-med-light method if I have the time. It's a form of meditation for me.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card, Lydia! I love your stippling technique for coloring the rose. It is very eye catching!
ReplyDeleteI think I need these markers , the colors are amazing .
ReplyDeleteReally cool card!!
ReplyDeleteUnique design with the stippling.
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing job. It's a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting design. I could hardly see the light pink in the background but could see the two colors of teal. Your card is lovely with the hello barely showing through. I want to thank you for sharing your time and talent with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever and unique idea! I love your card.
ReplyDeleteUnique and lovely card. I am new to alcohol markers but I love the seamless blending but I am also willing to attempt new techniques. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch clever use of the great new marker colours, Lydia! Your card is so pretty! Thanks so much for sharing your great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI like how you colored this. My favorite technique would be stippling other than just coloring with them.
ReplyDeleteWow. I love this card
ReplyDeleteI love your card. It really looks cool!! I love your technique. I’m still learning so I don’t have any special techniques yet but with these hops, I’m learning new things all of the time. Thank you for your inspiration Lydia, every bit of information helps me!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fun creation! So cool :)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so clever and unique, really cool! I usually just use my alcohol markers for standard colouring, but I do like using them for colouring images on vellum also... or using them to make the perfectly matched background for a sentiment banner :-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, unique, and creative card!! Any time I can achieve a descent blend, I am a happy crafter.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Would have never thought to stipple with the markers. I'm still fairly novice at coloring, but recently discovered how fun they are to use on kraft.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the stippling creates a looser look to the image!
ReplyDeleteI don't use alcohol markers (I think I did in college - but I was really a fan of black and white at that time...) so I don't have a favorite technique. I think I would like stippling very much!
Very pretty & totally unique in style. You've used some great colours. I have never thought of colouring like this. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love your card! I don't really know any techniques, except for blending, and now stippling. I've got a lot to learn!
ReplyDeletesweet idea - I tend to do the blending technique with my markers:)
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing technique! The result is just stunning! I am very new to markers. So I haven't really explored them much. I do find them extremely handy for doing quick coloring. The Altenew Academy class was super helpful. I am trying out different techniques and practicing to improve my skills.
ReplyDeleteI am just learning to use the markers, so I don’t have a favorite technique, yet. But, Lydia, you sure have me eager to try stippling now with the markers! Very cool card and these new colors make a pop, too! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! It's really different using stippling. I am one that needs a lot of practice with markers and I love to try all kinds of new techniques. I don't think you would consider this a technique but my favorite thing about using the markers is adding the shadows to images and watching them come alive!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a creative technique, Lydia....I have never seen it before! I am going to try it out, because I think it might become my most favorite marker technique. Love the look! Otherwise, traditional coloring after stamping is my fave marker technique. Thanks for your awesome inspiration here today!
ReplyDeleteI like the stippled flower look and feel like I could take on that technique with success. I currently don't have alcohol markers, so my favorite related activity is researching different types and hoping to someday invest and learn!
ReplyDeleteLove this card and the technique you used. The result is stunning!
ReplyDeleteLove the outlining of the flower.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card. thanks for
sharing. txmlhl(at)yahoo(dot)com
what a fun design. I think the process could be really relaxing
ReplyDeleteWow, this had to take some time and patience to put all those little dots down! It's very pretty, though. I've never used alcohol markers before but I'm hoping to start with the Altenew ones. I like that they come in color families and are better priced than others I've looked at.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love colouring hair with the flick stroke - one of my favourite things to do, just flicking the marker!
ReplyDeleteWell, I just ordered the Altenew Artist Marker Set D (I just could not resist these colors hehe) and these will be my first alcohol markers so I don't have a favorite technique.....yet lol. Thank you for sharing your very cool looking card and for the inspiration, stippling my just become my favorite alcohol marker technique very soon.
ReplyDelete(mardy14@bellsouth.net)
I don't think I have a favorite technique but I know that I do not have the patience for all those dots. I'm curious as to whether that damages the nibs. I lemme the color choice. Those dots do make for an interesting and fun card.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea!
ReplyDeleteGreat card! Love the colors! I guess my two favorite techniques (they build on each other) are shading and flicking. Its amazing how alcohol markers are so versatile.
ReplyDeleteI love using markers to create watercolor backgrounds on my cards! I absolutely need to give these a try.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is so super creative and really makes me so glad that I am seeing all the techniques to use with these markers! I really like how you did this! Super cool!
ReplyDeleteDid you announce a winner for this prize?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen anything (or I'm looking in
the wrong place). thanks.
This is a great tutorial on how to do stippling art. I really liked it.
