Mixed Media Garden Themed Kit Cards & Armadillo Defense System + Giveaway

Happy Monday from Lydia's little completely unpaid landscaping business, where I've been toiling away! I worked HORD this weekend (Grizzly True Crime Fans joke) planting some new plants and installing an ADS - armadillo defense system. My armadillo is ruthless in my flower beds, and I wanted to save my new plants, so I bought these wire grates/pin system, and while I was putting together little cages around the new stuff, I had a better idea that I tried out. I cut some of them for pots with my Fiskars clippers, and pinned them straight onto the dirt around my plants both in pots and in the groundwith the pins. You can't see them at all, but armadillos and squirrels hate wire, and so far it's working great! I'll give it a week and then convert all the cages to just flat wire on the ground. I really only want them to not dig right near the plants - I don't mind if they dig elsewhere in the beds for food. I'm pretty stoked about it.

I also did a lot of weeding and removing landscape fabric - I hate that stuff sooo much and I'm so mad about it. It's backbreaking work to remove! I got shrimp plants, some creeping Jenny, a few larger oxalis to supplement the ones that have been in my yard for years - I'm trying to entice them to take over an entire flowerbed. 100% native plants is the way to go - especially seeing what survived after the freezes this year - like my spiderwort, which I also got more of.

Anyway - we should get gardening recovery PTO for real. I'm SORE!

So I have some springy garden themed cards for you today! I love this new kit - it has a fun mixed media feel that is going to be GREAT for art journaling!

The first card is so bright and happy and springy with just holy trinity ink blending with Ultra Pink, Dandelion and Summer Sky. I stamped the texture image from the kit texture set and then cut the leaves and sentiments and added those in crisp white.

And here's the premium kit:

I LOVE all the mark making stamps and this fun stencil in the premium kit this month - they have a Keith Haring feel. They are also very art journaly. But look at the adorable and bright enamel stickers - such fun shapes!! Those are also from the premium kit.

This was the sneak peek card from yesterday with the classic kit - LOOK AT THAT WASHI TAPE!!! I ink blended grey ink around it to make it pop and it looks like it's floating! And pretty much any time I use grey I have to use yellow. My IKEA comforter from 1987 just imprinted me - I can't help it! LOVE the text stamp so much and the little mark making stamps in yellow. This is all the classic kit.

  10. I'm at an age where a garden is not feasible.
I've had flower gardens in the past but I left
the vegetables up to my husband (and now
my son has taken over). Enjoy watching
things grow but don't want the work. Love
    your projects. thanks for sharing.
