Turnabout Toolkit Tutorial + Giveaway + Seasons Givings Winner Announcement

Before I get to my cards today - I am SO late with my winner announcement for the Seasons Givings Blog hop - please forgive me!! Brenda - please use the contact me link in my sidebar to send me your mailing address so I can give you your prize!

Now - on to today's projects and video. You know of my great affection for Greg & Angie at Concord & 9th. I had the opportunity to chat with them at the coloring event at their new building this summer and got to see a little live brainstorming session. One of the things that was in the works at that time was the exciting new set of tools that I will be showing you today - and they're all about Turnabouts!

This month, they've come out with a Turnabout Toolkit that will make getting the most out of your Turnabout stamps SO simple and fun. The kit includes a jig (super important - and you'll see why in the video) - a new placement guide that will come with every turnabout from now on, and in a bundle for past turnabouts that you can find here, some repositionable adhesive, an adhesive remover, a set of cards and envelopes and a beautiful mini turnabout called Everyday Bouquet, which I've used on a few cards today. Before I get to the video - take a peek at a few different looks for this stamp set.

First, it's so yucky and grey here - I wanted a warm toned card. So using the Turnabout Toolkit, I stamped this image in Picket Fence, Ground Espresso, Nocturne and Vintage Photo on kraft cardstock. I then stamped the square frame and sentiment from the Everyday Bouquet set and cut the sentiment and the black frame with the matching dies and glued that all down in the center. There are a few sentiments that fit that square.
Again in the pursuit of something other than our grey skies, I did a totally different version with Wild Dandelion, Key Lime, Tangerine Twist and Bubblegum Pink ink. The simple hi die cut is from this set.
Then finally, the black version that I show in my video. I stamped this in Picket Fence, Old Paper, Pumice Stone and Candied Apple Oxide inks. The sentiment is from this set, and is die cut from no-shed neutrals glitter paper and I added some Like Magic Sequins

I think that cardmakers are more afraid of using black in their creations than they are of white space, but it's probably a horse race. All I know is that whenever I add a pop of black, I love what it does to a card.
Here's the video showing you the ins and outs of the toolkit and this card.

But come back after you watch because there's more :)

I squealed a lot about this next Turnabout - the Marbled background. I did something I love to do with turnabouts, which is to make my fourth "color" - white. So basically I stamp the first three colors and then just don't do the fourth turn. It adds my beloved white space and adds a little randomness that I like. Inks I used are Tangerine Twist, Wild Dandelion and Key Lime - are you sensing a theme? Momma needs some bright colors, y'all. I added more Like Magic Sequins and the big bold sentiment from this set.
BUT WAIT - the best is yet to come. NEW TURNABOUT STENCILS.

This time, I used Sea Glass, Tangerine Twist, Key Lime and Wild Dandelion ink with my Life Changing Blender Brushes to create this gorgeous pattern. I LOVE THIS. The sentiment is from this set and of course I added my favorite sequins. I cut this down so that I got two cards out of it.
You'll notice though that I thought I cut that panel exactly in half, but apparently my math skills were on vacation, so the second panel is a bit larger. The sentiment is from this set again.

Finally, I wanted to try my new Strawberry Champagne embossing powder on the Hello Sunshine Turnabout and I love it so much! Like with the white above - instead of doing four colors, I repeated Wild Dandelion on this one so that yellow was dominant. The other ink color is Tangerine Twist. I used the matching dies to make that little banner, that I embossed the sentiment on in Arctic White. The sentiment is cut from gold no-shed glitter paper.
Here's a cell phone pic that better shows that beautiful embossing powder and the shimmer it leaves all over your card front.

There are other super cute turnabouts in this release. This one steals my southwestern heart:

And the free with purchase set is this adorable mini spirograph set

So here are all the supplies I used today - if you have crafty money to spend, you couldn't spend it with nicer, more creative people.

  14. All your cards came out beautiful Lydia. I ordered everything from this release as I'm a big Turnabout fan. I still can't find your magic sequins. Your link goes to page unfound. I checked the store & they're not there either.

  15. I am so glad they came out with alignment "keys" for all the past turnabout stamps. I stopped buying them because I couldn't get them to line up properly (same reason I don't buy color layering stamps anymore, I have tried and tried). I really like this release and your cards are beautiful.

  20. Thank you for sharing the Turnabout system and especially for showing three very different colorways in the first grouping. I avoid using black and must learn at least to use it sparingly. Super video, too!
