Ho Ho Ho

I did a whole big stack of holiday cards this weekend, which was so fun. Now that I've converted myself into a person who mails different cards to everyone, using cards I've blogged, it's fun when I create them to think who on my list each card is perfect for.

I have someone in mind for this card, but I can't tell you why, because that would give away who, and then the whole surprise falls apart. So there.

Die cut cards aren't practical if you're making 200 of the same card, but when you're just creating one of each they are the PERFECT Christmas card!

I did a little die shopping in September after I airtabled all of my stamps and dies, because it became apparent that I had two holes in my die range - standalone shape dies (meaning dies that don't just match a stamp set but stand on their own) and all word dies, especially holiday words.

Well I fixed that with Impression Obsession's die release - SHAZAM! Someone is ready for Christmas, and that someone is MOI.

So I smooshed Wild Lilac ink all over some white cardstock and spritzed it with water and then cut it with this adorable Santa die. You have to admire that little girl's pluck - getting up on the rooftop to get her PRESSIE. She's going places, that one.

Then I cut the ho ho ho out of black cardstock. I mounted both on a strip of silver, no shed glitter paper and then onto a white cardbase. SUCH a quick Christmas card.

How do you do your holiday cards, if you send them? Same one to everyone? Photo cards? (I love those) or different cards? I'd love to hear.

You can check out the rest of the IO release here.

  1. Normally I have 4 or 5 designs that I make 10 or so of each. But this year, I "borrowed" one of YOUR cards from last year (the embossed candle with gold perfect pearls) and made them ALL the same. First time in over twenty years all my peeps get the same card.

  2. Super sweet and festive card! Love the purple and shine. I usually make about 200 Christmas cards. If I run low on time I'll make some multiples of a design, usually 4-5.

  3. Oooh - I love that hohoho die! And the Santa! I usually do up to 6 of the same or very similar card, using one stamp set. then I move on to another set. Gotta use them all!

  4. Great card Lydia! I do send out Christmas cards. Sometimes homemade, some bought with Golden retrievers on them to benefit them. Handmade ones are the best!

  5. That little girl IS going places, Child Services, because someone got it on video and posted it on YouTube and now the police are taking the parents into custody, OK, that was dark! You're rubbing off on me :) . Beautiful card, it sounds so simple but really packs a punch!

  6. Love this sweet silhouette die! Beautiful card in pretty colors! I usually make a couple of different designs for my holiday cards. Too hard to just choose one design! I'm indecisive! :)

  7. Just as I give myself a stern lecture about no more Christmas stamps and dies since I have sooo many - you post this amazing card, and the “need monster” eats up my “lecturing intention”. Just take all my money.

  20. Wow, Lydia, love that stunning color combo! What a fabulous card! I love everything about it! I make & send about a hundred Christmas cards each year & do make about 40 of the same but the rest are just one or two alike. My 2 friends & I meet once a month to make cards with each bringing an idea & supplies for a Christmas/winter creation. That has been such fun & makes us stretch our minds to come up with the perfect card to share.

  22. Lovely card. I got a chuckle out of your description of the little girl being plucky. I send out photo cards to everyone and then handmade cards to special people.

  23. Lydia you crack me up! I love your card, and the spunkiness of the little girl. Going places, indeed. I have a teenage boy who frowns upon the photo cards, and of course I prefer to make them anyway, so I sneak a family photo into the card and the boy is none the wiser ;-) i usually make a one-off for each recipient, with some exceptions like teachers, or distant family that I know won't be comparing cards. LOL Can't have Aunt Martha wondering why I threw her card together but labored tirelessly over Uncle Bob (cause he's our favorite... shh!).

  25. AWWW! This IS SUCH A SWEET Die, Lydia! LOVE the silver sparkle behind it. It just seems to add a touch of that mystery & sparkle to Santa! ;) I like to do my cards all the same, as I want to make sure I don't send the same thing the next year to someone. There IS a reason to my madness! LOL ;) SUPER JOB, Lydia!!!! ;)
