Get Your Cray On!

Today, my Crayon Rubbed Embossing Tutorial was featured at Splitcoast. Why are crayons so fun, and why are there so many cool things you can do with them? Have you ever not felt just happy when you opened a box of crayons, saw all the fun colors and smelled that waxy smell?

Anyway, in case you missed my tutorial the first time, it's a fun way to get another use out of your squillions of embossing folders. You can have a flat version of their designs in a fun resist technique.

It's especially fun with the spider web, which I used in this updated sample. The little spidey is from a retired set called Web Wishes that was too adorable to let go of. I love the little eyelashes on the spideys.
Stamps: Web Wishes Ink: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black Paper: Basic Black, Very Vanilla, First Edition, Tangerine Tango Accessories: Silver Glass Glitter, Simply Scored, Border Punch, Circle Punches, Markers, White Crayon,

My second sample was for the inspiration challenge from Sweet 'n Sassy this week. I LOVED the inspiration image

It begged for a Pool Party background - so I came up with this:

StampsSweet 'n Sassy Simple Pleasure, Ink: Pool Party, Memento, Early Espresso Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Accessories: Ribbon from my friend America Kuhn, Corner Rounder, White Crayon, Brayer, Punches, Hemp Twine, ShinHan Touch Markers: G48, B171, RP9, BR107, BR93,GY48

If you want to see the video, check it out below or if you don't see a player, click here to watch the tutorial.

I have other samples in the tutorial gallery here.

I hope you get to sniff some crayons this week! :)

  1. I checked my crayons, but unless I used neither white NOR black I wasn't going to get anywhere tonight. And anyway I only have Twistables which wouldn't be the best for large coverage. I shall remedy this major shortcoming in my supplies tomorrow, and until then I'll have ants yn my pants (word recognition :D).

  3. Gorgeous cards! Yup the smell of crayons; it's like the smell of Halloween night- prototypical of childhood. LOVE the book page medallion (and I had to keep web wishes too.) And the Pool Party with that sweet mouse: SO cute. The rubbing technique rocks. You're so "eurfein" clever! ;)
