April showers bring May flowers, right? Right on cue this weekend, it rained cats and dogs (I wish).
Since we are predicted to have a drought this year, (my favorite) even though I hate rain, I'm okay with it. Our poor mostly dead plants need it after that insane winter storm, so a good soak never hurts.
I found an incredible vegan chocolate for Easter - it's called Sjaak's. I don't even remember how I found it, but I bought it and saved it for yesterday and it far, far exceeded my expectations. Most of the vegan chocolate I've had is pretty underwhelming, but these people hit a home run for sure.

My handmade journal class started this weekend and it was AMAZING. SO much fun. You can join any time - it's an ongoing class you can take whenever you'd like. I decided to let the thunderstorms inspire me today, so I'm bringing you cats, dogs and a little rain!
I basically did the same technique on both cards - ink blending Distress inks in Wilted Violet and Spiced Marmalade - but I did one on the inside of the images and one on the outside.
This adorable kitty combo comes with masking stencils - so the kitty on the right - the openings mask off the shirt and hat, letting me ink blend the kitty in Squeezed Marmalade and Wilted Violet, and then a different part of the stencil masks off the kitty, so I could ink blend the shirt, presents, balloons etc. in Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed. SO CUTE. Nice one layer birthday cards!
The doggie combo also has a stencil like that, but for that card I used the dies to cut some masking paper and put that on a blank card front - it's easier to stamp after this step instead of stamping and then trying to line up the mask. Then I ink blended around all the masked and splattered it with water for the rain effect. I removed the masks and stamped the images. Super quick & easy - if you wanted to make a few month's worth of birthday cards, I think these sets make it easy. It's really fun if you're not a marker artist, which I certainly am not!
