Happy Monday from the aftermath of the longest week EVER! Did time drag for you last week? It sure did for me. Geez.

I realized this week that all the stress of #sixdaysinTexas made me completely forget to pay bills last month so that was a fun discovery this week.

But I did make friends with a squirrel - he now comes and gets peanuts out of my hand!  It's the little victories!

But I do have a fun tutorial for you too. Remember my Petite Collage? I'm back with part two of three - a monochromatic collage this time!

Of course I started with BLUE, but next month's is red, and I used the brayer cleaning sheet from THAT video to make my punny valentines, which you can see here, ICYMI.

I have some tips in the video, and I left this print whole, because I'm going to be hosting an online workshop on all the different things you can do with your Gel Press Prints - it's the UNWIND Use Those Prints workshop!

The date of the workshop will not matter because you can access the content any time. But, if you want to know as soon as I've posted the dates, you can sign up for a notification HERE

AND - I'm announcing my handmade art journal class! Registration is open today HERE. AND, if you sign up for this class, you will be able to get a reduced tuition for the UNWIND Use Those Prints class, because one of the 8 tutorials in that workshop is the art journal!

My three years working as a Rare Book Preservation Technician at the Rush Rhees library, as well as several bookbinding classes have given me so much joy over the years. I have made THOUSANDS of buckram boxes for delicate and rare books, rebuilt the spines and covers of deteriorating first editions and delicately pieced together crumbling bindings with tissue tape. My boss at the library was a crafter at heart.

But in the classes I've taken in the last few years - one by a very accomplished bookbinder through our local fiber arts group, I found that I do not enjoy the process of stitched bindings. I struggled in that last class and wanted something simpler, so I went back to the methods we used to use to repair books we'd separated from their spines in college - simple adhesives and folding, but with more common materials available to crafters.

These beautiful, completely lay-flat books are so easy to make - NO sewing, simple supplies, and can be made any size with any kind of paper for the pages and the cover. I'll show you books made out of watercolor paper, mixed media paper - graph paper for homemade bullet journals or zentangle practice - even a waterproof book for your garden or geocaching/hiking! These books make beautiful gifts and come together very quickly. Here are three of the covers for a sneak peek - two are Gel Press Prints and one is fabric.

My old watercolor teacher at our local museum pre-pandemic was a huge fan of handmade sketch books, and we learned tons of simple ways to create them out of large sheets of watercolor paper that we tore by hand. I loved those, but I love the polished look of these even more. The class will first go live on the 27th - but you don't have to be available that day - it's online and you can take it any time. So sign up today - I can't wait to show you these!

So here's today's project - a glowy, textured BLUE collage! You'll see this again in the upcoming workshop where you can create fun stuff with your prints.

I used every Golden Open blue I own for this print, and some stencils, bubblewrap and punchinella with my petite plate - it's just printed on copy paper. Check out the video below and then come back for even MORE exciting news!
Here's the video! Click here if you don't see a player below.

Now for some SUPER exciting news! My friends at CutCardstock have created bundles of pre-cut and scored card bases, fronts and stamp pocket inserts for my just for my audience! This takes all the math struggles out of ordering your white card bases and fronts and it's SUCH a lifesaver for me! So click here to see the three bundles - this is exactly what I order! I love these people so much!

AND - they are on sale! They are also linked in my supply list below! I could squeal!

Anyway - I hope your week is starting well despite the time change! Here are all the supplies I used today.
