Spooky Alcohol Ink Background

I SO wanted to show you this on Monday, but couldn't, so I'm so excited to have another spooky Halloween card for you today - and I have three more to come.

I've always felt like Halloween and Thanksgiving get run over by the Christmas bus, and I always dart into the street to try to stop that bus whenever possible, so today's card is me standing in front of the bus!

I'm a geocacher as you might know. And as a geocacher, I know that certain outdoor tools are super important. I have this telescoping magnet to retrieve nano caches. I have some Rite in the Rain paper to make waterproof logs with. And that's what led me to today's card.

I was buying planters on Amazon, and for whatever reason that served me up some waterproof paper. So I said to myself - Self - this might be good for techniques. It made me think of Rite in the Rain on a larger scale. So of course I bought it.

And sure enough, this designed-for-high-quality-printing "paper" is AMAZING for techniques. The first of which I will show you today - alcohol inks.

I wanted to create billowy orange clouds for a Halloween card, so I first sprayed this paper with rubbing alcohol and then dropped Valencia, Sienna and Honeycomb inks onto it and then hit them with my air can to manipulate the ink and form clouds.

Now the thing about alcohol ink is it can splatter when you are aircanning it - and I got some tiny splatters outside the clouds, which let me test the lifting properties of the paper. I used rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and they cleaned right off!

So overall, an A+ from me.

When I was done, I used this amazing October Die and this black glitter paper to finish the card. Would this not be an amazing birthday card for your beloved Libras? Love the bats and the spiderweb. So fun.

What are you planning on doing for Halloween? Yeet a treat? Bowl of candy at the end of the driveway? It's a challenge for sure. My neighbors have the most amazing decorations out. Sadly my skeleton wreath succumbed to the heat last year so I'm in need of a spooky new door decoration.

Anyway, enjoy the weather today - especially if you're near the gulf and waiting for the danged 25th hurricane of 2020!

Loveyameanitbye.
