You Are My People

(compensated affiliate links used where possible at no additional cost to you!)

I've been solving crimes the last few weeks with some friends.

Well - they're not solved yet, but we're getting close.

And if we're not getting close, we're learning some things.

I wish that there was an online job where you could submit tips and theories and get paid for it if they paid off. Some enterprising millennial should make that happen. And then hire me and my besties.

They are my people.

So I made a card in their honor tonight!

I took this beautiful, detailed heart die, but decided I didn't want to die cut it - I wanted to emboss and highlight it.

It was at this time that I discovered one of my Gemini Cutting Plates has gone AWOL - WHAT THE FLUFFY? I'm so good about leaving everything in a neat stack behind the machine - it's like a religious practice! I AM BLAMING A CAT.

Or something. Anyway, that is not cool, but I pressed on. (See what I did there?)

This is the sandwich for embossing with thin metal dies: Base clear cutting plate > rubber embossing mat > card/paper > die (cut side down) > plastic shim > top clear cutting plate (IF YOUR CAT DIDN'T STEAL IT)

So that's what I did, on a piece of watercolor paper that I had in my UFO pile. It embosses allll the details so beautifully. I cut it out with my circle infinity dies.

I then took some InkaGold and rubbed it over the whole panel with my finger.

I finished it off with the Sentiment Strips Dies and the matching stamp set. Clean and simple.

This is so perfect, what with the murder solving and whatnot with my besties, because there are a lot more bestie themed goodies out tonight. I love that "Valentine" type releases have transitioned so well to friendship themes. I think pure Valentine things are too limiting for anyone who is not overly schmoopy.

I'm trying out some not even close to new photo boards. Why are they not close to new? Well because they were about an inch too big to fit into my Foldio so I never used them. But we rearranged the garage last weekend, and as payment for my assistance, (I'm really good at throwing things away) I requested that the boards get cut down on the table saw. They are VERY sturdy and cut like butter! No rough edges! Now they fit in there and I love them. I have the one I'm using here, a more intense blue and a bokeh one. Just a little something different for fun.

I've worked so much this week I feel half dead. I'm going to try to take a nap at some point between now and when I head to Creativation. Will I see you there?

Head here to see the rest of the Bestielicious release tonight!

Loveyameanitbye.

  1. I like the background boards. Very cool. The rich red and gold are beautiful together and the impression you achieved makes me want to rub my fingers over it! I hope you find your cutting plate soon!

  2. Do you follow Esther The Wonder Pig on Facebook or Twitter? Esther ALWAYS blames Delores, the kitty, for anything that goes wrong! 🤣🤣 (It’s a fabulous page where so much kindness is found!). Beautiful card, love the dry embossing! You always knock it out of the park!

  3. Ha ha! You wrote this as if your cats might actually be reading this blog post, have either of them fessed up yet? You are such a joy.
