All Hail The Cat!

I was so excited to take Splotchy to his vet visit last week and find out that he had regained all his weight and then some! 7.8 pounds, little piglet!

I have a suspicion that the effort to fatten him up has resulted in some holiday pounds for Maddie as well. We'll find out next week!

They both have their winter coats now and Maddie, who has an undercoat, looks like a little black snowball. Splotchy doesn't have an undercoat, so he's a bit sleeker (and doesn't get as many hairballs.)

Anyway, life is all about the cats lately, as it should be, and so I decided to make a card that put the cats where they belong - at the center of the universe.

I made a little faux Russian icon of a cat using this adorable cat Christmas set. I cut a piece of silver glitter paper with my infinity dies - one of them EXACTLY fits the center of the open circle made by this burst die - and put that in the middle after die cutting a piece of watercolor paper that I had done my Drunken Acrylic Reveal technique on. This burst die can be used two ways - as I've done here, where it's just a flat design cut into the paper, or as I've done below for a 3D effect.
I used the same design with infinity dies and glitter paper to frame this sweet bunny. My friend Angela had noticed that the bunny could be praying with the right sentiment, so I made him meditate in his very clean, sort of Eastern-themed sunburst setting. This time I used the burst die to create dimension on the card - popping out some of the little rays to come towards the person looking at the card. I added some random Copic marker for a little divine bunny glow. The namaste sentiment is from this set.
This officially kicks off the month long celebration of dies we know as Diecember! Go see what all they have in store for you!

  2. Aww, so happy Splotchy is getting her weight and strength back.. I give Lucy a tiny dab of coconut oil every day so she passes hair at the other end, lol. She is a compulsive groomer, so it helps a lot. Your cards are adorable! The bunny cracks me up, and the Egyptians knew that cats were the center of the universe long ago, ha!

  4. Oh that cat is soooo cute!!! He’s just adorable. The burst is very fun on both cards and of course I love the bunny. So happy that Splotch has gained his weight back. I played in a SCS challenge today and it’s all about the cat, as it should be. :)
