I BeLEAF In You

Even though I'm a bit pantywaisted about any temperature below 80 degrees, I could not love fall imagery more than I do.

In college in upstate NY, fall days were the days you felt most alive. That crisp air, the beautiful blues and oranges all around you - it was absolutely magic.

If I could just parachute back there for one week a year, it would be amazing. I'm not interested in staying for anything colder than that, but I do miss the brilliance of a New York autumn.

But it's okay - I can stamp that right out.

My friend Tifany has some new stamps that are helping me through my fall envy.

The first is a sort of zebra print background, but when I saw it, I saw rippled water. My college campus ranged along the Genessee River, and so it was not uncommon to see lovely, brightly colored leaves floating along. I used her new leaves, masked them with masking paper, and then stamped the background over them, before coloring them with Copics.

I texted her this little monster, because I love him so much! He's a little tubby, but it's okay - he can work off that cake :).

I made the background in this video, in case you missed it. Then I used my infinity dies to cut a circle into that. I used that cut out circle in this blog post, and then used the negative space for my monster.

It's so funny - it's a builder set, and after I stamped the main image, I thought - I WILL GIVE HIM GLASSES LIKE ME - and then after I stamped them, I realized it's just his eyes  - haha.
Anyway, with that embarassing confession out of the way...

I have a lot of blog readers who are hearing impaired. It's why I did closed captions on my videos from way back in the olden days when I had a local crafty TV show - the original YouTube.

One of my longest term stampy class attendees was a sign language interpreter, and so whenever I see sign language stamps, I'm always compelled to buy them. What's great about handmade cards is you don't need to hear to enjoy them!

I took this fabulous background stamp and colored a rainbow pattern into it with my mini markers. Then I just cut out the image from the awesome sign language stamp set with my Scan 'n Cut and adhered it on top of the sentiment circle. It is a layering set, so that yellow portion is the solid image that goes with the outline. I stamped that in Wild Dandelion.

She doesn't just have new stamps tonight - she has more of her awesome bags!

And an adorable enamel pin - I love the new pin craze!

We've had an unseasonably cool spring and summer, so I'm not even sure I'm ready for fall, with my thin blood that hasn't even had a chance to boil yet, but I'll survive. If not, go on without me :).

  2. I am so not ready for fall yet either! Our summer was slow to arrive here too, then we had a period of "too hot to be out" days...Perfect summer weather for about the past week or two, and I want it to stick around! Tifany's new stamps are great!

  3. Ah, Fall is my season, so I'm especially loving the "leaf" card - and I can see myself stamping that sign language message a lot, not just for cards.
