All three design teams (I'm not on any of them, but I am stoked to be a part of this) are posting today with each other's products, and I can't wait to see them.
I'm using Gina K's products today - the stunning Elegant Asters set that was part of her most recent kit.
Gina's kits are super cool because they have stamps, dies, cardstock - and the dies come already on a Stamp-n-Storage magnet card, all super affordably priced. Then, she breaks out the components after the kit month to sell them separately, so you won't miss out if you miss the kit period.
Today, the Elegant Asters stamp set is available separately, so that's what I decided to use.
I love the bold, zentangly look of the leaves in the set, and the combo of leaf sprays and individual leaves made it quite easy to build myself a background using the MISTI. It was easy to stamp one image, and then position another stamp so it was touching the outline of the next stamp to give sort of a cohesive look as if it were a single background stamp. The leaves are stamped with Amalgam Jet Black.
Then I cut a few inches out of the panel diagonally with my Rotatrim, and glued them onto a white card base. I used the gorgeous hello die (originally part of the kit) to span the gap, cut from Key Lime cardstock - 100% my favorite colored cardstock. If I were sent to a desert island with just black ink and white and Key Lime cardstock I'd be happy as a clam. Other than losing the ability to use Instacart and have air conditioning, that is. FYI - there are matching no-lick envelopes for this gorgeous color.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love that black and white background! One of my favorite background techniques is to make my own patterned paper. I use several images, each one with a different color ink, and fill a sheet of white or vanilla card stock. Then I cut it up to make backgrounds. In fact I was just doing this today with Gina K’s Birthday Blessings set!

Love how that beautiful Hello die pops against the black and white stamping. I tend to use different techniques depending on the mood I'm in and the challenges I'm playing in. This could be ink blending, ink smooshing, playing with stencils or stamping a background with the help of my MISTI. Currently, I'm also rediscovering my Hero Arts background stamps. The MISTI makes it so much easier to stamp again if necessary or to stamp in multiple colours.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to create a background is the wrinkle free distress technique. But these leaves would look wonderful over one of those backgrounds. I love this Stamp set and how you used the small leaf sprays and individual leaves to make a full background. I'm going to have to stretch my craft budget a little further now that I have seen these stamps used this way.
