Finishing Details: Topical Ink + Gel Press + Coupon Code

I had a happy accident at the Gel Press booth at Creativation. I got to do three demonstrations over the course of the show, and I focused on my Stencil Transfer Batik technique - because it's so simple and fun and you can do it with any textured item you're working with, not just stencils, and they always have fun stamps and textured things at the booth.

On the third day, as I was packing up, I noticed that I had been a wee bit more prolific than on the other two days, and so I had a lot of wet prints I needed to stack up and take away so the next artist could use my station. So a little thought popped into my mind, based on what supplies were at my station, and that's how today's video was born. I won't spoil it for you, but I will show you the results.

First, this card with one of the prints. I had originally cut it to card front size, but then I thought I wanted the squirrel to be sort of coming out of the card at you. I love this squirrel stamp. I stamped him on the white cardstock and onto the print, so that it looked like he got paint on his paws and chin by peeking out. The sentiment is from this critter set.
Here's what that print looked like before I cut it up. I used the Arteza Acrylics set - these are super affordable and a good size tube for gel printing, but I love that metallics are included because that's what I was using in the booth, and the metallics really are amazing with this technique. You'll see the shimmer in the video.
If you look closely at the next print, which I haven't turned into a project yet, you might be able to see what these have in common. This is a print I did at the booth - the wavy texture lines I just made with this tool directly on the plate.
Do you see it?  The stencil in this one is a blast. Gives a lot of structure to the print.
What about now? This one is my favorite. You can't see it here, but you'll see how shimmery it is in the video with the gold paint mixed in with the red. The stencil is a beautiful, modern one, same as the print above.
This one was SO much fun to do. This large stencil is one of my favorites.

I'll stop torturing you - here's the video. Stay tuned afterwards for a discount code.

  6. I really really love this process. I have a question what type of adhesive do you use when you add these creations to your card stock? Thank you

  7. What a cool idea! Can you point me to the video you mentioned at the beginning - where you roll the brayer over the stencil and the roll the brayer on another paper? Thanks so much!

  10. Wow, your work is always amazing, but this is the icing on the cake, pun intended. I fail miserably at gel press ... maybe I should have another go.
