Falliday Fest Kickoff Day!

Every year at Splitcoast we have a holiday tutorial blitz where we do ten tutorials in a week. Yes, we are crazy like that.

I love it because I struggle with coming up with projects at this time of year because #septemberoctobernovemberdecember is a BLUR in the craft industry. The ideas I find during the blitz are some of my favorite tutorials that I come back to throughout the year.

Today is the kickoff of it - we call it Falliday fest because we love the fall holidays too, and I have some cute Thanksgiving projects coming up for you as part of it.

This year, we thought we'd do something a little different. I pulled Google Analytics for our top ten blitz tutorials of all time and the team is going to update them with new products, little twists on the techniques, etc. So those will be SUPER fun. If you want to get an email with each of the tutorials during the blitz, just go to the Splitcoast home page, subscribe and be sure and check the box for Special Events. You will also find the blitz tutorials on our homepage, as well as links to ALL past blitz tutorials for a wealth of holiday inspiration.

We bookend our "rewind" tutorials with two new tutorials for the two newsletters that start and end the blitz, and the new tutorial today is my Gel Impressionism Foiled Collage technique.

For this sample, I actually combined two of my tutorials (videos below) to make the background for my collage. Then I mercilessly ripped it up for the technique, collaged it with matte gel medium, and added silver foil. I die cut three circles with infinity dies, and after brushing ink through this stencil onto the background with the Life Changing Blender Brushes, I drew lines with a teeny Micron pen to suspend the ornaments and added this awesome ho ho ho die cut, cut from no-shed glitter paper and BOOM - holiday magic. I wish I had realized before I was importing the photos that those look like little earths - I could have done a peace on earth sentiment. YOU can do that :).

Our SECOND tutorial today is Lori's AMAZING twist gate fold tutorial - this sample is so cute. She texted it to me when I was voting and it is so cute my battery died on the spot!

Head to THIS forum to subscribe to all Falliday Fest updates - we have lots of sample makers with unique takes on these ten tutorials that you won't want to miss.

Please note these are previously published videos, but in case you missed them, here is the video for the background I used:

And here is the video for the technique.

  1. Whoopee! I lots of "oops" projects this technique will be perfect for. If they can't make it here, they can't make it anywhere. ☺
