I Remember Sweater Weather

I remember my first winter in New York mostly for the sweaters. I had this one sweater that I loved more than any garment I've ever owned, before or since. It was an oversized, sort of square shaped sweater that had 8 inch stripes of grey and bright yellow. It came down to like mid thigh with a square bottom and it was made out of something indestructible, although soft and not itchy at all. I had never owned sweaters before New York or since, really, so that was an exotic garment for a Texas girl. Wide stripes must have been in in the late 80's because I also had a yellow and white IKEA comforter with stripes the exact same width.

ANYWAY - I have no need for sweaters anymore, or coats, or boots or any extra fabric of any kind, but I LOVE stamping sweaters and coats and the trappings of my former life. Especially when I can make them all fun and colorful, which is what I've done today with this set. I'll include all the products under the first sweater card to make your life easier. Also, I'm super happy to be stamping sweaters and not wearing them, for the record.

This is the stamp set I used - how cute is that?? I mixed and matched the little sweater embellishments, and instead of stamping the sweater outline, I just used the matching dies to cut all three sweaters out of Gel Press prints I made at my retreat with this technique.

On the first one, I stamped the flowers and the black dots in Nocturne, and then added white gel pen accents on top. The sentiment is from this set.

This print was so bright and happy I thought the hearts from the set would look cute. Again with gel pen accents. The sentiment is from this previously released set
Finally, a more traditional looking sweater - look how that stripe fell perfectly - with more flowers and the sentiment from the same set.

What are you looking forward to as the temperatures drop, if they do where you are? Since we don't really get "weather" we mostly look forward to the holidays and all the food and fun traditions leading up to Christmas. Thanksgiving is my favorite, and Halloween a close second. Halloween is EVER so much more fun with a ring doorbell because I have videos of all the cuteness of my nephew in his awesome costumes.

Three people will win a $25 shopping spree at Waffle Flower - so be sure and leave her a comment here to be eligible to win. I know you'll want to get this cute sweater set, or any of the rest of the release, including this amazing pop-up tree die - she's truly a genius. And she is a sweet human being. So shopping = good karma with this girl.

Anyway - happy fall, and...

Loveyameanitbye.

  4. This is only my second "Winter" in Texas and I still can't manage to get rid of some of my sweaters... I just keep hoping there will be a couple of days to curl up in them. lol Thanksgiving is usually my favorite too, but we won't be able to get to VA this year to visit my parents, so I will look forward to putting up holiday decorations with four kittens who have never experienced them before! LOL

  6. I would love a beautiful sweater collection like this! And I do love fall when it is time to get out the sweaters and sweatshirts. Now that I am retired I wear sweatshirts waaaay too much all winter and the pretty sweaters stay on the shelf....don't want to get them inky....😁

  7. I love your sweater cards Lydia. I personally don't wear sweaters, they are all itchy to me! But give me a nice cozy flannel shirt and I'll be happy.
