The sentiments don't always feel right to me - and that's really just because I never really know what to say when something bad happens.
The other day I came across a woman who is a cancer survivor, and I read the article about her, and realized that just because you don't know what to say, that doesn't mean you shouldn't say anything. I think you'll enjoy her story and her frank cards. (Warning - there is some explicit language there.)
But this year, I found a sympathy set that I ADORE. It's called Sorry for Everything, and it has this HUGE Sorry and then a bunch of matching sentiments. Stay tuned for some hilarious cards with this set soon. (One in particular cracks me up, but it won't be up for a few weeks.)
So the first time I inked it up, I could not resist pairing it with a green, ill little Blah Bunny and my favorite eye stickers from this post.

ReplyDeleteWell Lydia, here comes my moment of truth - I want to see the Acropolis and since SU's incentive trip for 2019 is the Greek isles, that means I am going to have to step up my game. It would be so much easier if I didn't work 60 hours a week building roads and bridges but we all have our crosses to hear. That being said, I think I am going to have to start a blog and share some of my crazy crafting with the outside world so I can sell enough toys to earn a seat on the boat. So per your directions "I want to win Lydia's Arkon package for August." and become a video guru and get a cool trip to a place I haven't been to since 1974 (we stopped in Athens on our way to Cypress - that is another adventure to share later).

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely LOVE this card. I have been EXTREMELY sick for 11 years. I'm talking couldn't bathe myself or walk alone for 8 years. I can walk now & can bathe once a week, but have so much freakin pain & symptoms that I'm bedridden. I love encouragement cards but this one made me grin. I so need to grin more. Thanks for that gift, Lydia. Chronic lyme is at the root of all my different illnesses, conditions, syndromes, infections, etc so of course I like the lime color. Haha!
PLEASE do say something to ppl who are hurting. We're the same ppl, but could use some extra lovin'. Unfortunately, many ppl are so uncomfortable that they refuse to even be around you. I have literally lost ALL friends & don't trust others as much, as a result. I LOVE people & any friend is extremely dear to me. I am loyal & loving.
I have just got to visit your blog more. It's one of my very very favorites. I'm a SU hobby demo & use many other supplies like you. I make something whenever I can, but mostly hoard these days. It gives me hope that I'll be able to really art one day.

ReplyDeleteA perfectly hilarious card to combat the blues of flu season which will be here before we know it. Thanks for the link to the cancer cards. As a cancer survivor a few times over, I LOVE them and can relate. Since I wasn't supposed to live through the year of my own 1975 Hodgkins diagnosis and am still going, I had a wide range of reactions from others and myself. I told the doctors not making it through the year wasn't an option for me since I'd paid for some classes and couldn't get a refund--ha! I'll never forget being in the store while in the process of trying to get all my radiation treatments set up and having red and black magic marker all over my lower my face and throat to mark where they needed to radiate/not radiate to hit/miss vital spots. A lady in line asked me if I was in a cult ;-) And then there were the well-meaning co-workers who brought me all sorts of remedies, including the highly recommended coffee enema. Oy! Oh, the memories!
Oh Lucy I love your attitude! And I remember the coffee enema thing - we ran a health food store in Bryan when I was a young teen, (John Mackey used to deliver to us! :) ) and I remember that book by that woman who recommended that and juicing and said her melanoma came out of the bottoms of her feet. There were a lot of drugs being consumed in that decade! :) I'm glad you're okay! Hugs!
