SMASH Book - Dementor Edition

I was wondering what happened to smash books the other day. I think smash books gave way to planners.

I wonder what planners will give way to?

I had my monthly meeting with the W.I.N.O.S. (Women in Need Of Stamps) and we were marveling at how things come back. Like shaker cards. Vellum. We are seriously anxious that eyelets are looming over us like the dementors of the papercrafting world, and us all vulnerable with no patronus. (What WOULD the eyelet patronus be? Mulberry paper? A CRIMPER?)

(I actually secretly hope eyelets do come back because I have 30 million of them. Do NOT ask me why.)

But my card today has both smash and book without being a smash book. And it has no eyelets, crimping, hair gel or mulberry paper.

It actually has TWO book thingies on it.

MariLynn is hosting today's Mix-Ability challenge on Splitcoast, and her challenge is to put ink or paint in a "book" made out of a plastic bag or something similiar, smoosh it, and then put your cardstock in there to pick up the smooshed ink.

I used vellum for my "book" and reinkers for my medium - in my fave primaries.

Then I used the second "book" - the MISTI - to overstamp my greeting three times so that it was perfect - it's hard to get ink perfect on watercolor paper and this helps me not throw my cards away.

I finished it off with four glue dots that I burnished a little bit of silver glitter onto. It's such an easy way to add sparkle.

So let me know what you think is bubbling up from the stamping graveyard.

Oh - and congratulations to my winner of a gift package from the Simon Says Stamp Hop - my dear friend Leslie Hanna! (Bobra's mom)

Loveyameanitbye.

  1. This is gorgeous! Ok, No more procrastinating, I must order my MISTI. How many beauties have I tossed because I couldn't get the sentiment on my watercolor with the first stamping and there's no way I can ever get it matched up again even with a SAMJ. This jumped out at me on the SCS samples on MariLynn's post because of the amazing color. Great sentiment too!

  3. If the next big trend turns out to be peel-offs, I'm out. Crimper I could live with - I still have mine from last time, languishing in the 'for sale' box, ignored by everyone for years.

  8. I have eyelets and brads galore and rarely used them when they were the thing to use. Same with ribbon. Maybe we shod all do a throwback Thursday using long neglected embellishments.
