You Don't Know What Color My Polar Bear Is...

You don't.

Well, you might. Mine might, possibly, be blue. But if yours is green that's fine. Or orange, or whatever!

What in the world kind of teacher would tell a child their polar bear was the wrong color??

Don't get me started.

If I wasn't so sleepy, I would tell you a story about how I lost my mojo tonight, temporarily, and how blue squirrels made me decide to make a card anyway.

But I'm sleepy. So I don't have time to tell you the whole thing.

However, my new stamps from the new catalog came today!! And, even though they're not blue, check out the squirrels..

The little bench with squirrels is from the new Pendant Park set, and the greeting is from the new Kind & Caring thoughts. Yeah - it's all great.

Somebody on Twitter asked today what one thing you had to have on your cards. I thought about it for a bit, and then I answered - "space".

After I said it, I thought - Hmmm, maybe it's more than my cards. I love space. I love quiet, peaceful space.

I can't go to the movies, because I don't have space. I understand that that isn't normal, but I don't care. I love the desert. I can't stand the mall. I love the sky in TX that comes down to my feet. I love the early morning when no one is awake but me and a select few. I don't like corn fields, but I love wheat, because I can see over it.

I need to be able to see.

What do you have to have?

I hope a giggle, because don't forget - it's MMLM.
Oh, and speaking of laughing, I'm really a ding dong. I entered my order wrong from the new catalog, so I ordered two of this adorable set!!
So the winner of THIS week's Make Me Laugh Monday wins this set - WOW - who knew???

Better make it good ladies!!!

And to be fair, and spread the mirth to all, all entries must be in comments on this post.

LOVEYAMEANITBYE.

Have you signed up for the UBlue Cyber Club? Attended one of my Webinars?? Come on - get your geek on! :)

  1. Yeah, I am first! I still have no idea why I like to point that out, but hey who the heck cares. Lisa Page has Cletus, I have being first to comment!

Anyways, Lydia, I have absolutely nothing to make you laugh, but I am not commenting to enter the contest of the free stamp set. I just wanted to tell you how dog gone cute that card is. Love those squirrels next to the tree.
Oh, forgot to mention how adorable Maddie looked yesterday snuggling up with that pillow. Give her kisses for me.

    Hugs,

  2. since you ordered 2 of one set -- does that make you a "blue" --- 'cuz I know you're not a "blonde"???

  3. ok, this is funny to me...
I have a 3 1/2 yr old little boy.. who I apparently forget has selective hearing/repeating abilities when he wants to (as most toddlers do).. so, when in casual conversation with the hubby, I am complaining how I need to download the new catty pdf since I was too busy with life and didn't pre-order my box... and then mention how the file is frickin' huge... right at this time is when the little one decides to hear and repeat... so he's running around the living room..saying "it's frickin' huge, frickin' huge"... oh, little boy...

This is one of the things I CAN actually post that he accidentally repeats...
    eek.
And that set is on my wish list specifically for the little boy!! :)

btw.. you make me laugh all the time on this site. :)

  4. Lydia, your card is adorable! LOVED your answer of "space"! I like my space too!

My daughter told a story today that made me laugh ... she went camping with her cousins and many of their friends this weekend. One evening around the campfire, a friend had a few too many drinks and asked my niece's husband (Oscar) who my daughter was and what her name was. Oscar told him she's Allie, my wife's cousin. The tipsy friend asked Oscar what her middle name was, and witty Oscar replied "luiea". Oscar had the friend going for quite some time that my daughter's name was "Allie-luiea"!

  5. Love the card! I pulled that set from my order because it was, ahem, frickin' huge.

Anyway...hopefully this one will make you laugh. Little Miss had a play date with her best little preschool friend in the world. I took both girls swimming at the neighbors house. Now the friend, Little Miss L, can't swim very well so I put her in water wings for the day. After awhile in the water she says, "Hey Miss Kim, I'm goin' to do doughnuts." I say, "Okay, L., let me see 'em," figuring that she is going to turn herself in circles.

She proceeds to put her little hands together in front of her face (like a shark's fin) and swim toward me singing, "Donut, donut, donut" (insert the pre-chomping theme from Jaws here).

I almost broke the don't-pee-in-the-pool rule.

    Have a great one!

  6. G'day (hey, I'm in Australia, people expect me to talk like that!).

We were at Sovereign Hill yesterday, a fantastic historical reenactment park, based on the Gold Rush of the 1880s. As a special winter event ('cos it's a really, really chilly winter here you know) they had ice sculptures on display in a cool room, and a sculptor outside carving a block of ice into a centaur.

He asked if we'd seen the sculpture he did yesterday, on display at the front gate.

"What, the salmon?" asked one woman.

"Well, it was a swordfish when I carved it!"

    Made me laugh!

And I thought you'd appreciate a story that involves a lot of ice.

  7. Love that card. Simple and yet perfect.

    Tuesday morning silliness:
How do you make Lady Gaga angry?

    Poke her face!

    HA! I'm easily amused. :)

  8. Beautiful card!

Space. I have problems with white space. It makes me itch. My new goodies came yesterday, too, and I hope to break into them tonight.

When I read you color of polar bears question, I immediately thought of a song by the late, great Harry Chapin. "Flowers are red, and green leaves are green, there's no need to see flowers any other way than the way they always have been seen." followed, of course, by the most-excellent chorus: "There are so many colors in the rainbow, so many colors in the morning sun, so many colors in the flowers, and I see every one." Stop telling our kids that a polar bear cannot be blue!!!! Maybe I'll make my squirrels blue. :-)

Sorry, not funny here, don't need more stuff....

  9. Lydia,

I don't want to win anything. I just want to make you laugh.

When my son was about ten years old, I bought this white dress in a style I didn't usually wear. I was excited to put it on the next morning for work. I also put on sparkly white hose and white tennies. I came out of the bedroom and asked my son, "How do I look?"

"Like a big fat nurse," he answered.

  10. Well, I don't know if this is funny. But this is a great quote that I got today.

"The higher up you go, the more mistakes you're allowed. Right at the top, if you make enough of them, it's considered to be your style." ~Fred Astaire

So you're just stylin' don't you know.

For me the one thing that I always need on a card is either a flower or ribbon. I'm such a ribbon hoarder.

    {hugs}
    Mary

  12. Your comment on color today reminds me of a story from my early teaching days. The children were coloring hand-drawn pictures of themselves for parent's night. One little boy asked me what color he should use for his legs. I noted that he had already colored his arms, so I asked him if his legs were the same color as his arms. He said, "Let me see!" and proceeded to roll up his jeans to look!!! (Yes, I DID teach him to read, write, add and subtract by the end of the year.)

  13. Love that card. I am a big fan of the bench but not of the "tree" that comes in the set, much prefer it this way.
Space is a biggie for me on cards as well. I like simple, elegance over fill every inch with stuff.
On to MMLM. I have a 6 year old who is collecting jokes. When he makes them up they never make sense but he is getting there with telling others jokes.
Why are dogs such bad dancers?
They have two left feet. No Paws.
    Cheers

  14. My thing lately is space as well. But mostly peace & quiet kind of space (have 3 little girls ;) Thanks for all the reminders to keep it simple .... :))

  16. My friend told me this AM that last night she could not sleep, so she got up in the middle of the night, to get a Klondike bar to eat from the freezer. For some reason she took it back to bed to eat. ...Needless to say, she fell asleep before she finished it.
When she woke up this AM, her husband had what was left of it stuck to his back...and melted chocolate was all over him and the bedcovers!!!!

  17. I love your card! I can't seem to do simple cards. White space scares me, so I admire your ability to make beautiful simple cards!
And now my attempt to make you laugh...
Our youngest daughter graduated from high school in June and is going away to college in the fall. We will have an empty nest for the first time in over 21 years. We have been discussing what we are going to do with our new found freedom. My daughter asked her Daddy what we are going to do with her room when she leaves and he told her he was going to make it into his "naked man-cave with a 52" Plasma-screen TV".She covered her face and said she didn't want to hear about it! Of course he's just joking! But it's fun to kid her about it:-)
Thanks for the chance to win the cute set, but most of all I hope I succeeded in making you smile.

  18. Hi Lydia,

In my world it's still Monday so I'm sending this in anyway. Especially as you are a teeny tiny bit responsible as you will see.

My entry is an email I wrote to a friend. You can ignore most of it but I bet you recognize the source of the funny incident.....hint...it has a blue post all over it....

    note begins...Hi Sharon,
Not at all stupid. You should see the boners I've been pulling lately. For instance I might already have responded to you on this but for the life of me I've lost track.

I've been inundated with requests to join the
newsletter as well as caring for a sick cat who's paw needs soaking every so many hours and my usual methods of tracking responses seem to have fallen through a rather large crack.

Funniest one was seeing something on a blog about a French version of Branch Out (or at least that's what I thought they were talking about) so since Branch Out was on the dormant list I called
demo support to check if the French version was also still available.
Polite silence greeted my inquiry...followed by....uh you do know that
Branch Out only contains picture images and no text....so really there is no
specifically French version.....oh boy was my face red.....Oh well it did
provide a laugh for all concerned so alls well that ends well. The measure with which we can see the funny side to our mistakes tells us how far along the road to enlightenment we've come or so some philosopher or other tells
    us.

I guess I've gotten further than I thought. I now not only crack myself up but others around me as well!

Hugs and blessings and know that I'm always here for you when needed - Jean

Hope this cracked you up as well Lydia...at least now I know it was the teeny tiny wishes that was in French tee,hee :D

Hugs and wishes for a merry week (after all why should Monday get all the laughs :D)

    - Jean

  19. Of course, true to Cletus, she typed up a full story and then lost it into the ether. I'll type it again later for her. Give somebody else that really cute stamp set, that I have always wanted, and has been in my dreams, that I have seen such good examples made from.........to somebody else that really thinks they are funny!;););)

Maybe Cletus lost it on purpose because somebody else needs to win, like Carolyn- HA! Too funny! Here's another one:

My ex-DH (is that an oxymoron?) was sickly and when I asked him "how do you feel" outta the extreme kindness of my heart he said "with my fingers".

    ...and the fight began.

WV-equente- an ultimate show put on by an ultimate horse.

BTW- story I typed in but was lost was about Quasimodo OR a one-humped camel- I will type it in later and you can decide.

  22. I'm new to your blog but it is so much fun! Your cards are great!

So...wanna laugh at the silliness of a mom?

I was riding with my 17 year old son in "his" car the other day to the store. When I went to put the window down and he locked the window so I couldn't but put it down for me. Thinks he's funny...yah...anyway...on the way home from the store I went again to put the window down and it didn't work so I promptly and sternly told him to take the lock off the window. He says mom it isn't on...push down instead of up.

Oh, my goodness...he got all my cool points for the day and beyond for sometime.

Dontcha wish you lived at my house? LOL!

  23. Ha ha ha ha!!! When I first opened this post I didn't realize it was from four years ago and I was screaming, "I WANT THAT STAMP SET!!!!!", then i saw that I was a little bit too late to enter! Ha ha!!!

Oh my gosh, have I had fun reading everyone's comments! I have laughed out loud over many of them! It's not Monday, but here's my funny story: My husband is significantly older than me, and that's something that bothers him at times. For him, our daughter was a late-in-life baby. One day, when she was about 3 years old, he was really depressed and I told her to go into the living room and give Daddy a hug because he's sad. She climbed on his lap and snuggled for a few minutes, I could tell she was working her magic. Of course, she's 3, so it wasn't long until she was ready to get down and go play. I was watching from the other room when she leaned up and kissed him on the side of his face, then she put her little hands on both sides of his face and said, "I love you Daddy!" Well that did it, I could just see the warmth of her sweet little love filling his heart. AND THEN she added, "You know what Daddy? You need to iron your face." Hahahahaha!!! I couldn't help but burst out laughing. Fortunately, he started laughing too! And we still laugh about it to this day!

Love your blog, love the way you write and love your cards!!!

    Peace, Love & Joy,
    Joyce
