A Place to Bark (or Purr)

We all need one right?

Let me tell you a little story. Two actually. First of all, I held off making this announcement until Texas Independence Day passed. A year ago on March 2, I lost my little Spotty cat. :(

I think that is when a lot of you got to know me. And many of you I talk to almost daily because of the bond we established over the absence of that gorgeous little creature. For those of you who don't know the story, my little kitty was a victim of the melamine pet food contamination issue. If you want to know what I feed Maddie & Splotchy and why, click here and watch this video at the bottom of the screen. Watch the whole thing.

There are few things I've loved in my life like I love animals. I would say art would be a close second. I especially love the ones with one ear, or crazy fur, a broken tail :) or the ones no one else wants.

So if I have an opportunity to do something kind for our little furry friends, I take it. My sweet friend Lisa (click here for her blog), who you may know as Purrcy and Lucy's mom, and I are putting together a little kindness for Bernie Berlin's "A Place to Bark."

This is a private, no-kill rescue and adoption shelter, that needs a little house built for their rescued kitties.

Lisa and I thought a little art might help, so here's what we are going to do.

We are going to design three stamps - I'm designing one, mixed media artist Suzi Blu is, and collage artist Claudine Hellmuth is doing the third. 100% of the proceeds from the stamps will go to A Place to Bark for the kitty shelter.

You might see a little Maddie in my design :)

So go read about Bernie's place today, look at all the sweet little critters she's helped, and then get ready for us to reveal our stamps!! I'm very excited.

My second story is about the blue dog, but it will have to wait until tomorrow... :)

Have you signed up for the UBlue Cyber Club? Attended one of my Webinars?? Come on - get your geek on! :)

  1. Can't wait to see the design!

I'm also very careful what I feed Purrcy and Lucy. Hard to lose a fur baby that way.

  2. Helping animals is always such an important cause! How neat to be able to support the animals by doing what we love, stamping! I can't wait to see the designs. When will they be available?

  3. Oh Lydia, that's so sad! It's so hard to lose a loved one and pets definitely do become a part of your family. I love animals too...it's one of the few things that I don't like about the place I live...no pets!!! I ask my landlady on a regular basis (about once a month!!) if I can get a dog or a cat...but she always says NO...but I won't stop asking...LOL!
Can't wait to see your stamp! I hope you're going to be selling to Australia...or I really might have to get on a plane and come on over there and sort you out...pmsl!

  5. Lydia - I'm so happy that you teamed up with Suzi, that's terrific. She is such an animal lover as well. Can't wait to see what you all came up with.

  6. I'm so sorry about your cat :( I am very excited to see the new stamps! I can't wait! I'm a mommy to a pug and three ferrets, and I chased a raccoon around the parking lot at work on friday telling him come here baby! So bottom line, I'm always willing to donate and support animals!!!!
