I TOTALLY HAVE A SOCK MONKEY!!!

I DO!! I'M SO EXCITED I CAN HARDLY STAND IT!!

Of course I have zero time to play with him until like Sunday - GRRRR.

Here's how it went down. I woke up with sock monkey FEV-AH on Thursday morning. As soon as I opened my eyes I realized I had told you on WEDNESDAY that I had 48 hours to wait for my beloved sock creature, but NO - it was only 24... And I left for work with an uncanny giddiness and anticipation. Unfortunately, a pesky 3:30 haircut delayed the squealing. It also meant that I could not assault my UPS driver in the manner I had imagined I would. For a hilarious description of this phenomenon, please click here and read what Kim has to say about the UPS man and a Stampin' Up! Preorder!!!

She ain't kidding either - don't come to our hood in that brown uniform ... It just ain't safe these days.

Anyway, haircut behind me, I arrive to this spectacular sight... Oh yeah baby - I know what that means!!!! First, you must know that I got so excited on the preorder that I closed the order before I was done ordering stuff. Hence, the two boxes, and a lot of embarassment logging back on to place a second order for the rest.

Now, you can't just rip into an important box like this. You need TOOLS, baby!!

A person, so that she might not injure her sock monkey, should always take a carefully chosen exacto and gently cut the tape on top of the sacred box.

Do you know what sort of restraint this takes??

Once it's open I anxiously scan the packing list for my sock monkey.

Thank GOD - he's here. That backorder column can hurt a girl, you know. I know you do...

Now I can see what's in the box..

Oh my - THAT PACIFIC POINT BLUE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BLUE THEY HAVE EVER MADE!! I'm sorry if you can hear me, Ballet Blue, but YOU ARE NO LONGER MY FAVE BLUE!!!

You guys are going to freak when you see this. My picture looks nothing like it. It's so saturated and beautiful.

The other colors were a pleasant surprise. The sneak peek pics on the internet made the orange one look like a highway construction road cone, and it's actually really pretty in real life. It's kind of a warm cantaloupe color. MUCH nicer than groovy guava. The powder pink is the prettiest pink they've made, IMHO. The red is beautiful, the green is nice (it's not River Rock though :( ) The only one I'm disappointed in is the pale blue, believe it or not. It looks dull to me. Doesn't have the pop of Soft Sky or Cool Caribbean.

But over all, very well done as usual. If you visit Pantone.com you will see that Stampin' Up! is right on target this year, as usual.

I really can't look away from the Pacific Point for quite a few minutes. I feel a hoard coming on, I'm not gonna lie.

Brillant WHO? Ballet WHO? Tempting WHAT? I have no memory of any other blue.

But on through the box - the scallop punch?? OH FREAKING MY. It's brilliant. And the second you put a piece of paper in it and wonder how you keep it lined up - the punch itself teaches you what to do - you'll see what I mean when you get it. Very nicely done.

The bunny set (Serene Spring)- OMG. This is such a beautiful set. Head over to SCS for some great samples!!

Brilliant stuff these girls are coming up with, I tell ya.

Then, this one that I actually FORGOT I ordered is SOOO much prettier in real life.

it's called Happiness Always, and it is a two-step, which I love.

It also has a very fresh funky font that is perfect for the kind of modern, almost grunge design.

I think there will be some great samples with this at convention.

The butterfly is especially adorable.

And then, there's this... Here he is. Take a minute to introduce yourself to my sock monkey!!!!!
I can't wait to make things with him - I already have a billion ideas!!

Look at his sassy die cut self - all I gotta do is pop him out, stick him on a wood block and his hiney is MINE!!!

No more cutting!!! Is there a charity where we can donate our rubber scissors? like "igottastillcutmystampsout.com?"

Anyway tomorrow is my club, which is why I gotta work tonight and can't play with my monkey. So here's a sneak peek of a few of my projects. Full post tomorrow.

If you've made it through this post and would like to win the hostess set "Infinite Goodness", just leave me a comment with what you're doing this weekend!!

  4. He is SO CUTE! I love Sock Monkeys. I made my version of one for my second son. He pulled off the tail so ours was not the typical version. He called his George, and it went everywhere with us.Thanks for the prompt in my head.
As for this weekend,I am cleaning the basement and going through tons of plastic tubs.I 've found some good stuff and made a big pile for donations.
    Thanks for some fun.
