Oh boy are you in for more than you bargained for today!! My video is basically a crafting horror film! Just you wait until you see a terrible mistake unfolding right before your eyes! If you are needing a cathartic scream, boy howdy you are in the right place today, my friends.
But first, let's take a look at the new kit! It's layering flamingos! My brother loves flamingos, so I might have to send him a MISTI and this kit, because it rocks.
My video today will show you how to do puddle reflections like on my first card today. I used masking paper, a craft knife, acetate, and the following inks: Cotton Candy, Azalea, Ultra Pink, Antique Ivory, Pool Party and Intense Black for this scene.

Wanna see the kit and the FLAMAZING embellishments? Here you go!
The add-ons include this beautiful tropical die set. Normally when I get tropical dies, I stamp them in black as silhouettes, but I thought I'd flip that particular table and use them in white! I used liquid watercolor for the background and this sentiment, and after it was all done, I splattered it with gold Hero Wax.
Here's my sneak peek card! For this, I ink blended a sunset with Fruit Punch, Taffy and Lemon Drop inks, and then stamped the first and third layers of the kit in black. Over that, I stamped the second layer in white for a nighttime feel!
The fancy die set is adorable too, with a lawn ornament flamingo and pinwheel! I just cut him out of coral cardstock and brushed a little ink on the bottom of him for shading. The grass is so cute. I used the sentiment from this set.
Here's a peek at all this month's add-ons.
So here is my video with the terrifying event! Giveaway details are below the video.
This video is now part of my Master Class on Shadows & Reflections.

Thank you for the video. I love the puddle.
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute how you added a little wet spot with a reflection. Really cute!
ReplyDeleteOh no! And of course it is a layered image. Hey we were all looking at that die and did not see that piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you for teaching me how to do a reflection. Very cool!! I like the knife you used-I have it too.
A have a cousin who is a flamingo freak thus a lot of them in my stash...
inky hugs Margot
Dear Lydia -
ReplyDeleteI will be watching the video after all these enticing teases. I love the reflecting pond on the flamingo card - FABULOUS! I also love the "tickle me pink" and "warm wishes" cards. You have abundant talent!

Hi, Now having watched the video, I have to say that if you had just glued the "mutilated" flamingo back together, I don't think it would even have been noticeable via video. In person, probably yes... thanks for your honesty and the full disclosure. You're so funny... perhaps you can start giving commentary for something like Candid Camera / AFV. Say "hi" to Clarence!

The reflection tickles ME
ReplyDeleteI love all of these cards, especially the background on the tropical leaves one! Going to watch your video now - I could use a good scream!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards. Regarding the "mistake". Perhaps you could have just redone the last 3 flamingos and popped them over the "some surgery required" birds. Might have been a problem with the legs tho. Perhaps you could have put a large, tall water plant in front; probably too much extra effort.
ReplyDeleteThe puddle reflection is wonderful.

I LOVE the flamingo cards!!!! The mistake is not noticeable ;) Love the backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The tropical leaf card is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh no....I can't believe you forgot to snip that little die...because I thought I was the only one who ever did something like that. I've also accidentally left a die on the cutting plate and added another die on top, NOT a good idea. Your card turned out beautifully anyway though, because you're a genius, haha!
ReplyDeleteYour ooops was funny...poor flamingo! But the end result is wonderful! Great video.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try the reflection flamingo card!

I love your video lol! I've made that mistake with the die, too. Your cards are gorgeous- great reflection!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great tips for working with this months My Monthly Hero kit. I can so identify, we have all made mistakes like this. Beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteLoving the flamingo cards, and the tropical leaves and flowers card too! Beautiful color combos and details!
ReplyDeleteThese are all adorable, but I loved your story about the mistake! How often we do things like that!!! Thankfully, I don't film, so mine aren't usually known to anyone but myself! You did a great job! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love the puddle technique! I probably would have tried to find a way to use a piece of acetate for the puddle with the stamp on the back. So different! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLol, I kept trying to imagine what the horrific mistake was and didn't see it until you mentioned it! Since I won the kit via a comment, I'm going to refer back to your video to make a puddle for a card!
ReplyDeleteI love the cards and I am really drawn to the Warm Wishes with the Greenery. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove your card, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSuch awesome cards! Love the reflection of the flamingos in the water.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Your cards are wonderful! Thanks for the lesson on doing reflections. Thanks also for letting us know that even professionals make mistakes. I always make mistakes on my cards and some of them are not fixable. I really like the card with the tropical leaves. That background is very pretty.
