Happy Monday! I have a relaxing video for you today of an acrylic overpainting technique, where I'm treating acrylic paint more like watercolor, but on thin music paper, which is more delicate and more suited to acrylic.
I started by stamping this envelope bouquet image on music paper on my sticky mat in my MISTI. After you do this, leave the stamp in the MISTI and leave your image on the sticky mat, because we will be overstamping at the end.
Take the image out of the MISTI, leaving it on the mat, and paint it as I show in the video with acrylic paint, and this is the brush I used - it keeps a nice point for the little details.
When the painting was done, I put the whole sticky mat back in my MISTI, overstamped it with Nocturne, and added clear embossing powder to put all those details back. I deliberately kept the paint thin to let the music page shine through.

Then I could not resist these hilarious little dragons. I colored him all one color with my OLO markers, and then I shaded him with these colored pencils. Behind him I ink blended the flames with this stencil. The sentiment is from the dragon set and it cracks me up. I grounded him with a tiny strip of black cardstock.
So here's the video & giveaway details are on YouTube - come back for the ribs recipe!
Here are all the supplies I used today.

I made one of my favorite recipes this weekend - braised short ribs. But, did you notice that almost immediately after Pinterest launched, when we were all so excited about saving great recipes and crafts, that all the links started to lead nowhere?
This is the reason I save all of my recipes to Google Drive. Some of my very favorite recipes from Whole Foods, the New York Times, Bon Appetit, and local Texas papers - have disappeared from the internet. People re-do their websites, unpublish things - if you are a true crime follower - you'll know that news stories disappear all the time, and researching older cases becomes very frustrating because of dead links.
Being the mistrustful Gen-Xer that I am, I started saving mine years ago - copying the recipe, along with the link, and adding my notes. One by one, these links went poof! But I still have my yummy recipes! You can't fool a GenX chick! I also subscribe to three paid recipe sites - so I can't share those, but I recommend them - they never fail me - New York Times Cooking, Clean Food Dirty Girl (whole food plant based meal plans) and Milk Street. This weekend I made on of my FAVE CFDG dishes as well - they have a creamy artichoke stuffed shell recipe that is great. That's the site that helped me get over the trauma of my dairy allergy - all the cashew based sauces, dressings and just delightful vegan recipes and new flavor profiles.
Anyway, I had not updated my notes from the last time I made it and started cooking about an hour before I wanted to eat. But it's about a four hour operation, and so I ate at like 9:30 Friday night, like Jan from The Office! But it was worth it! The cooking time in the recipe is off - you can see that in the reviews, which are still up even though the recipe isn't. I also made a few other tweaks. I served it with mashed potatoes. Amazing. For beef broth, I use the NO Beef Better than Bouillon because the beef one has milk in it - so does the chicken. Dumb. Anyway, here are my notes. You should try it sometimes. I used 14 Hands Cabernet for the wine.
Have a great Memorial Day - be sure and pause at 3 PM Local time for the Taps Across America performances. You can read about that here. This started in 2020, which I didn't know, probably because we were all hip deep in the pandemic at that point. I love this idea. I know it will be covered by CBS, not sure who else.
Loveyameanitbye.
