Riding a Rollercoaster Through The Louvre

I told a friend the other day during an Olympic texting fest, that watching the Olympics is like riding a rollercoaster through the Louvre.

There are such wonders to behold, but you spend half the time screaming, holding your breath, covering your face and generally being clenched. I think I might have some sort of brain hernia after watching Casey Eichfeld in the whitewater slalom semi-final. That is a mystifyingly improbable and nervewracking sport.

My poor cats have PTSD from the screaming, clapping and wild sympathetic ducking and leaning going on. I hope they forgive me.

So if you need something to help you unclench while you're ignoring the 87 daily hours of beach volleyball, how about a fun vintage watercolor technique?

Take deep, soothing breaths. Pick up a Winnie The Pooh Stamp.

For this card I added more color to maintain the classic Pooh look, but other than that, the technique is the same. And lookie - there's a video!

Speaking of videos, don't forget - Online Card Classes is having a sale this weekend! Go get yourself some crafty education! I am a huge fan of their classes - it's a bit of an obsession.

Now - back to your regularly scheduled Olympic coverage.

  3. Hello there! I have been eagerly waiting to see what you did with the cute little Pooh Bear you peeked on FB last week. This is adorable. Right now this is my favorite technique! I have yet to use an open lined image like your pooh bear (that's on my to do list) but I love the mix of distress ink, inktense pencil, and elegant writer pen even on tightly drawn images. Thanks for the great video. I love hearing you while watching you work.

  5. Pooh Bear has been my life-time hero; seriously, since I was the littlest kid, I've read all the books, watched all the shows & movies. My 1st son's nursery room was totally Winnie the Pooh! Now I will spend my life trying to find another one of these Pooh stamps, Lydia! I just love how you honoured his 'Pooh-ness' with the beautiful colouring. Thanks so much for sharing! :)

  9. Thank you so much for this video. I loved Heather's card and tutorial, but I wasn't particularly successful with my first attempts. I have this Classic Pooh stamp, and you make it look so easy. I'm going to give it a try.
