The Saga of the Tail Continues...

Maybe this is karma catching up with me for having a pet Tail when I was a child. Well, it wasn't technically a pet, since it was just a tail, and I don't know who thinks a fake tail is a good toy anyway, but I've got tail issues. Not my tail - I don't have a tail - but Maddie's tail. She ripped another huge chunk of it out yesterday, so it's not the catnip. I think it's some kind of mental illness. Does anyone know about tail deforestation? If so, please help me or I'm going to have to get some kind of kitty straightjacket.

PS - if anyone knows where I can get a kitty straightjacket, DO TELL. :)

So I have had foofy tails on my mind lately, which is a good thing, because I've been playing with Pamela's foofy tailed chicken stamps! I LOVE a good foofy tailed chicken.
Stamps: Chicken Up on You(Firecracker Designs) Ink: Basic Black, Summer Sun
Paper: Stampin' Up! Autumn Meadows DSP, Dusty Durango, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Book Page
Accessories
: Crushed Curry Polka Dot Ribbon, Blender Pen, Button, Linen Thread, Scallop Oval Punch, 1" punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Now I realize looking at these that I paper pieced them all. I guess chickens are just too colorful to leave all one color. After the classic barnyard, above, I thought I should make a funky chicken, tee hee... So I used my new fave paper - the Kaleidascope DSP to funk up my chicken in this black ditty.
Stamps: Chicken Up on You(Firecracker Designs) Ink: Basic Black, Whisper White craft
Paper: Stampin' Up! Kaleidascope DSP, Basic Black
Accessories: Stampin' Up! button, Prima Flower, Mini Glue Dot, Self Adhesive Rhinestone

And then these last three little babies are from Marrakech - the stamp set comes with that intricate little border you see - it exactly matches my Basic Grey Marrakech paper.

Paper: Stampin' Up! Kraft, Whisper White, Basic Grey Marrakech
Accessories: Stampin' Up! Scallop Oval Punch, White Gel Pen

For all you neat freaks, I'm here to tell you that this kind of revelation would be impossible in a room that didn't have a weeks worth of paper scraps and other debris on the desk. So there. Rationalized AGAIN.

Hope you're having a fabby day! Thanks for Chicken In!

  4. Hey there!! I know that my cat used to pull chunks of hair out of his back. Took him to the vet and found out he was allergic to flea bites. My cats are permanent indoor kitties and had treated them for fleas. But apparently I must have "carried" one in from my outside dogs, so they gave him a shot and a flea treatment and everythings been fine since. Just a thought.

  5. I think they call it "mowing" when a cat pulls or licks it's own fur down to bare skin. It's time for a visit to the vet. It could be all the rage now with cats to have bare tails - sort of like kitty mohawk hair style.

  6. I second the flea bite dermititis. My cat's hair would come off in no time at all, just from one bite. Being that we're in the country, even though we treat our animals we have to watch out for critters that come into our yard. My beagle also has the flea bite issue and routinely looks like a baboon. Advantage works great but the downside is that in order to kill the flea, the flea has to bite the animal. Sooo, if the dog is in and out of the house she has no hair on her butt in the summer.

Anyways, I'm loving the chickies! Sad to say but I realized while reading that these guys were all pieced that I have never pieced anything together. I think that qualifies for demerits or something, lol.

  7. sorry to hear your fur baby is doing that. One of our cats started doing that when Mike was on the road all the time. Vet called it separation anxiety and gave me a prescription for it. He missed Mike so much, he plucked his hair out. Has your fur baby experienced some sort of trauma??

  8. I agree with the flea idea.

My dog used to regularly pull out the hair on his beautiful tail - all due to fleas...

And, when it's hot, the fleas LOVE it!

Try the Advantage... works on my kitties...

Give Splotchy a pat from Smedley and Smudge... They can SOOO relate...
